AFP via Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>After being unable to come to an agreement with the Giants, Barkley inked a three-year, $37.75 million deal with the Eagles and paid immediate dividends: In 16 regular season games, he rushed for 2,005 yards and 13 touchdowns, adding 278 receiving yards and a pair of scores through the air in one of the best campaigns ever for a running back.<\/p>\n<p>When it came to the postseason, the 28-year-old posted 499 rushing yards with five touchdowns \u2014 124.8 yards per game \u2014 to power Philly to its second Super Bowl in eight years.<\/p>\n<p>The Eagles didn\u2019t get a chance to celebrate their 2018 title at the White House as Trump canceled the visit over <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2018\/05\/23\/nfl-comes-to-anthem-solution-that-erases-kneelers\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">a dispute with players kneeling during the national anthem<\/a>. AFP via Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>Eagles coach Nick Sirianni and tackle Lane Johnson escorted Trump out for the ceremony, which was attended by an estimated 30 players among other team personnel.<\/p>\n<p>Among them was the \u201cBig Dom\u201d DiSandro, <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/sports\/who-is-big-dom-meet-eagles-chief-security-officer-dom-disandro\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the Eagles\u2019 head of security<\/a>, who was the first member of the team invited to speak by Trump \u2014 who revealed DiSandro to be a fan of his, and to whom he gifted an autographed MAGA hat.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThank you President Trump,\u201d DiSandro offered, \u201cand Go Birds.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Philadelphia Eagles\u2019 head coach Nick Sirianni, left, and offensive tackle Lane Johnson stand next to President Donald Trump as he honors the Super Bowl 2025 champion Philadelphia Eagles. IMAGN IMAGES via Reuters Connect<\/p>\n<p>Trump heaped plenty of praise on Barkley, with <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/04\/27\/sports\/saquon-barkley-hangs-out-with-trump-after-teammate-dodges-question-on-white-house-visit\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">whom he golfed over the weekend<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s a handsome guy,\u201d Trump said of the star running back. \u201cI offered him a ride. And he loved it. With chatter around the NFL growing to potentially ban the \u201ctush-push,\u201d a short-yardage play the Eagles have seemingly perfected, Trump backed its inclusion in the NFL.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey\u2019re talking about getting rid of the play, I understand \u2014 they should keep it,\u201d he said, to an enthusiastic response from Barkley. \u201cI like it. It\u2019s sort of exciting and different.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI would like to see something, I would like to go back to the regular kick-off, however. We don\u2019t like that kick-off where nobody is moving, the ball is in the air, nobody is moving and I want to ask the coach or Lane or any of the people about that\u2026 but as a fan, I don\u2019t know.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>One of the main components of the Tush Push, QB and Super Bowl MVP Jalen Hurts, <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/04\/28\/sports\/eagles-jalen-hurts-skipping-trump-white-house-visit-after-winning-super-bowl-mvp\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">did not attend the gathering<\/a>, citing \u201cscheduling conflicts.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Also missing on the day were receivers AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith, as well as CB Darius Slay, safety CJ Gardner-Johnson, defensive ends Brandon Graham and Josh Sweat, tackle Jalen Carter and linebacker Zack Baun, among others.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Donald Trump tried to warn the Giants.
