They also came up a lot financially, which really helped.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Spencer opened holes and provided protection for a voracious offense for the Warriors as they won the last two <a href=\"https:\/\/mauinow.com\/2025\/12\/01\/monday-morning-mil-kamehameha-mauis-rising-stars-look-to-come-back-strong-after-two-consecutive-state-titles\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/mauinow.com\/2025\/12\/01\/monday-morning-mil-kamehameha-mauis-rising-stars-look-to-come-back-strong-after-two-consecutive-state-titles\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">First Hawaiian Bank\/HHSAA Division II state football championships<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Spencer will join current freshmen Duane Peneku, an offensive lineman, and Rusty Ako-Nataniela, a defensive lineman, and sophomore linebacker Ronin Souza as <a href=\"https:\/\/mauinow.com\/2024\/11\/30\/kamehameha-maui-wins-first-state-football-championship-with-37-14-victory-over-kaiser\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/mauinow.com\/2024\/11\/30\/kamehameha-maui-wins-first-state-football-championship-with-37-14-victory-over-kaiser\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Kamehameha Maui<\/a> graduates on the <a href=\"https:\/\/whitworthpirates.com\/sports\/football\/roster\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/whitworthpirates.com\/sports\/football\/roster\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Whitworth roster<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve got some boys up there, which\u00a0I know that\u2019s not a huge reason for going to college, but it\u2019s gonna help me,\u201d Spencer said.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/Pau-Spencer-1-Photo-credit-Shang-Ong.jpg\" alt=\"Kamehameha Schools Maui captains Kamahao Akima (58) and Pa'u Spencer show off the championship trophy after the Warriors' 48-24 win over Waimea on Nov. 28, 2025, at Mililani High School. SHANG ONG photo<\/p>\n<p>He\u2019ll also have the help of his sister Logan Spencer, the oldest of the Spencer children. She was a four-year standout volleyball player at Whitworth before graduating in 2024, and she still lives in the Spokane area. She\u2019s looking forward to helping her youngest brother transition to college life.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI try my best to help and support him. And he takes everything in stride, which is really\u00a0cool to see from such a young person,\u201d Logan Spencer said of Pa\u2018u. \u201cI\u2019m super proud of him and everything that he\u2019s\u00a0done and accomplished and being \u2026 I don\u2019t even know how many times state champion at this point.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Pa\u2018u Spencer is finishing his time at Kamehameha Maui by doing two sports in the spring \u2014 volleyball and track \u2014 for the fourth straight year. He was one of the leaders of a Maui Interscholastic League championship boys volleyball team in 2024 and last spring he was <a href=\"https:\/\/live.athletic.net\/meets\/44004\/events\/individual\/1933368\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/live.athletic.net\/meets\/44004\/events\/individual\/1933368\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">third in the state discus<\/a> with a mark of 166 feet, 4 inches, and <a href=\"https:\/\/live.athletic.net\/meets\/44004\/events\/individual\/1933366\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/live.athletic.net\/meets\/44004\/events\/individual\/1933366\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">ninth in the shot put<\/a> at 48-1, all while splitting time in practices between the two sports.<\/p>\n<p>Following two older siblings into college athletics is something Pa\u2018u Spencer has been aiming at for seemingly his entire life. His older brother Kale Spencer is currently <a href=\"https:\/\/www.liuathletics.com\/sports\/mens-volleyball\/roster\/kale-spencer\/7058\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.liuathletics.com\/sports\/mens-volleyball\/roster\/kale-spencer\/7058\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">a senior standout volleyball player at Long Island University<\/a> in Brooklyn, N.Y.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/Pau-Spencer-3-Photo-credit-Rylee-Sparling.jpg-.jpg\" alt=\"Kamehameha Schools Maui senior Pa'u Spencer holds the koa warriors head championship trophy for the Warriors after they beat Waimea 48-24 on Nov. 28, 2025 at Mililani High School. RYLEE SPARLING photo<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt gave me a standard to live up to \u2026 (and) also showed me just how to\u00a0act and how to perform on and off the field,\u201d Pa\u2018u Spencer said.<\/p>\n<p>While he\u2019s the youngest sibling, he\u2019s by no means the smallest. When he was in fifth grade, he was already bigger than his older brother Kale Spencer.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s always been bigger than me, really,\u201d Kale Spencer said.<\/p>\n<p>Kale Spencer was a first team all-Northeast Conference selection last season and second team all-NEC as a sophomore. For the 9-9 Sharks this season, he is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.liuathletics.com\/sports\/mvb\/stats\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.liuathletics.com\/sports\/mvb\/stats\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">second on the team with 189.5 points<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Kale Spencer, who is 6-5, 220 pounds, smiles when he thinks of his younger brother.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSuper proud,\u201d Kale said. \u201cJust a couple of years ago, I was playing and he was on the (Kamehameha Maui) sideline,\u00a0just itching to get on the field and show what he has. I\u2019m just super proud of where he has\u00a0come and how much he\u2019s grown. Even though we didn\u2019t think he could grow much more.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/2026-Commitment-Graphic-9447672.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-12935\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Logan Spencer is 24 years old, Kale Spencer is 22, and Pa\u2018u Spencer is 18. They were 14, 12 and 8 when their father, Charles \u201cBala\u201d Spencer, suffered a serious stroke following open heart surgery 10 years ago, a mishap that has left Bala Spencer in a wheelchair.<\/p>\n<p>Charles Spencer was an offensive lineman at Eastern Washington University in Cheney, Wash., and mom Lisa Spencer ran track and played volleyball at Lane Community College in Eugene, Ore.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe was so young when it happened and he was so clueless to what was\u00a0happening,\u201d Kale Spencer said Pa\u2018u immediately after their father\u2019s stroke. \u201cAnd I think even for myself, like it didn\u2019t really hit me until a couple of years\u00a0after.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Kale Spencer, a captain on the LIU volleyball team, has watched his younger brother grow into his role as a dominant lineman and a captain on the KSM football team.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/Pau-Spencer-Photo-credit-Rylee-Sparling.jpg\" alt=\"Pa'u Spencer, a Kamehameha Schools Maui senior, will leave the Pukalani campus as a two-time state champion in football when he graduates in May. RYLEE SPARLING photo<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s really special how he\u2019s grown up and how he\u2019s\u00a0stepped into some roles that we didn\u2019t expect to see a young guy like him take,\u201d Kale Spencer said of his brother. \u201cI can\u2019t wait to see what is next for him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Lisa Spencer is overjoyed for her youngest son and all of her children. She is often seen in the corner of the Kaulaheanuiokamoku Gym on the Kamehameha Maui campus with Charles Spencer next to her watching volleyball matches.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Kamehameha Schools community from around the state stepped up to help the Spencers immediately after Charles Spencer\u2019s stroke, from fixing casseroles for the family dinners to making sure Charles made it all of his medical appointments and as many of his children\u2019s sports contests as possible.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey\u2019re all great humans,\u201d Lisa Spencer said of her children in a text message. \u201cGod has a great plan for them. I\u2019m truly thankful for the Maui community and Kamehameha \u2018Ohana. It takes a village and this village here is amazing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That was again on display when Charles Spencer had another hospital stay in August 2025 when he had his gall bladder removed and then had to have an emergency surgery to stop bleeding.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat was so scary,\u201d Lisa Spencer said. \u201cHe lost a lot of strength.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Pa\u2018u Spencer knows that beginning at an NCAA Division III school like Whitworth could lead to bigger things down the line. He was recruited by both the University of Hawai\u2018i and Eastern Washington, where his father played the same offensive line position his youngest son will play at Whitworth.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s always going to be a possibility in this day and age of\u00a0recruiting,\u201d Pa\u2018u Spencer said.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014\u2014\u2014<\/p>\n<p>COLLEGE VOLLEYBALL: Clinic on April 3, matches on April 4 at Jon Garcia Gym<\/p>\n<p>\u2014\u2014\u2014<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/hawaiianstylevolleyball.com\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/hawaiianstylevolleyball.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Hawaiian Style Volleyball Club<\/a> will host a volleyball clinic for players 12-18 years old on April 3 featuring <a href=\"https:\/\/goswords.com\/sports\/womens-volleyball\/roster\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/goswords.com\/sports\/womens-volleyball\/roster\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Chaminade University <\/a>women\u2019s head coach Kahala Kabalis Hoke and assistant coach Kolby Kanetake.<\/p>\n<p>The clinic for players will take place at the Jon Garcia Gym on the Baldwin High School campus. Cost is $25.<\/p>\n<p>On April 4, also at the Baldwin gym, three college women\u2019s volleyball matches will take place.
