RALEIGH, N.C. — NC State sophomore wide receiver Teddy Hoffmann<\/a> will miss the entire 2026 season as he serves a one-year suspension after violating NCAA rules.<\/p>\n

Hoffmann recently tested positive for a performance-enhancing substance, according to the program. Under NCAA regulations, a positive test for a banned substance carries an automatic suspension of one calendar year, which also includes the loss of one full season of competition.<\/p>\n

“Teddy made a mistake that he’s taken responsibility for in front of his teammates and coaches,” said NC State\u00a0head coach Dave Doeren<\/a>. “It’s an unfortunate reminder about the importance of always checking with the sports medicine staff before taking any type of medication or supplement to make sure it’s permitted. I know he will learn and grow from this experience and use it as motivation moving forward.”<\/p>\n

Hoffmann appeared in all 13 games last season as a true freshman, quickly carving out a role in the offense and showing flashes of his versatility and big-play ability. During his freshman campaign, he recorded 25 receptions for 359 yards and three touchdowns, averaging more than 14 yards per catch. In addition to his work as a receiver, Hoffmann also displayed his athleticism with a trick play, throwing for a 59-yard touchdown during the season, capping the year off with a 40-yard touchdown in the Gasparilla Bowl against Memphis.<\/p>\n

The suspension means Hoffmann will not be available for the Wolfpack during the upcoming 2026 campaign while he serves the full calendar-year penalty required by NCAA policy for performance-enhancing substance violations, dealing a blow to what was expected to be an upstart offense bolstered by multiple transfers along the offensive line. The news also comes as NC State looks to replace its top two wide receiver options from last season, with Terrell Anderson transferring to USC<\/a> and Noah Rogers<\/a> transferring to Alabama.<\/p>\n

His absence will leave NC State without one of its young offensive contributors for the 2026 season, as the Wolfpack are now expected to lean on a bevy of transfer portal additions acquired this offseason, including Miami<\/a> transfers Joshisa Trader<\/a> and Chance Robinson, Appalachian State<\/a> wideout Davion Dozier<\/a>, Buffalo<\/a> transfer Victor Snow<\/a>, and Alcorn State<\/a> wideout Tyran Warren<\/a>.<\/p>\n
