Until now, Danny Pinter<\/a> has been able to spend his entire career in Indiana.<\/p>\n

From John Adams High School in South Bend to four years at Ball State and then six seasons with the Colts<\/a>, Pinter has always been close to home.<\/p>\n

The Ravens offered an opportunity that was too good to turn down. Pinter has agreed to terms on a 1-year, $2.75 million deal to compete for the starting center job in Baltimore, where the Ravens lost Pro Bowl center Tyler Linderbaum to the Raiders in free agency.<\/p>\n

Faced with the loss of Linderbaum, the Ravens will almost certainly add another center in free agency or the draft, but it still represents a better chance at starting than returning to the Colts.<\/p>\n

The path is blocked in Indianapolis.<\/p>\n

Colts center Tanor Bortolini was one of the team\u2019s breakout players in 2025, blossoming into an athletic weapon who became a key part of the Indianapolis running game. Pinter took over for an injured Bortolini for almost a full game against San Francisco, then started against Jacksonville, but the job is Bortolini\u2019s for the foreseeable future.<\/p>\n

Drafted in the fifth round in 2020 after playing right tackle for Ball State, Pinter found his NFL home at center in Indianapolis. Pinter got a handful of starts in place of an injured Ryan Kelly in his first two seasons, then got a chance to take over as the team\u2019s starting right guard to open the 2022 season.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, Pinter struggled at guard, forcing him back to the backup center role for the rest of his time in Indianapolis. A natural leader, Pinter was a key part of the fabric of the offensive line during his time, and it made it difficult to leave the Colts.<\/p>\n

But Baltimore ultimately ended up giving Pinter an opportunity that wasn\u2019t going to come in his home state.<\/p>\n
