Three teams that clearly still need to add to their running backs rooms this offseason are the Washington Commanders<\/a>, Minnesota Vikings<\/a> and Seattle Seahawks<\/a>.<\/p>\n

After losing Kenneth Walker in free agency<\/a>, the Seahawks are lacking a true starter at the position. The closest thing the Seahawks have to one on their roster is Zach Charbonnet and he may not be ready for the start of the season.<\/p>\n

In Washington, the Commanders have made a few additions to their backfield group, but there isn’t a sure starter among them with guys like Jacory Croskey-Merritt, Jerome Ford, Rachaad White and Jeremy McNichols under contract.<\/p>\n

As for the Vikings, they’re set to rely on a 31-year-old Aaron Jones who is coming off an injury-plagued season, and backing him up is the one-dimensional Jordan Mason. Minnesota needs more, plain and simple.<\/p>\n

After the blockbuster Jaylen Waddle trade<\/a> between the Miami Dolphins<\/a> and Denver Broncos<\/a> on Tuesday, it was speculated that perhaps the Dolphins would be open to trading running back De’Von Achane, too.<\/p>\n

The Vikings, Commanders and Seahawks no doubt would have had interest if that were the case, but ESPN’s Adam Schefter<\/a> reports Miami is not willing to trade Achane.<\/p>\n

“Sources: Teams that have called the Miami Dolphins to inquire about trading for Pro-Bowl RB De\u2019Von Achane have been told that he is not available,” Schefter reported.<\/p>\n

It’s understandable why Miami wants to hold on to Achane.<\/p>\n

The cupboard is completely bare on offense in Miami after the Waddle trade and that is not an ideal situation for the incoming Malik Willis, who is not in a good position to succeed in his first year as the starter.<\/p>\n

Trading Achane would have stacked the deck against Willis even more.<\/p>\n

Another reason it makes sense to hold on to Achane is he’s still young enough to factor into the team’s long-term plans despite what will be a multi-year rebuild. Achane is just 24 years old.<\/p>\n

All that said, it was believed Waddle wasn’t available for anything less than a huge offer and the Broncos came through with that type of package and the Dolphins decided to move him.<\/p>\n

It’s not crazy to think the same could happen with Achane, so we wouldn’t completely rule out a trade at some point down the road.<\/p>\n
