(Photo by Cooper Getty Images<\/p>\nA little over four years after reaching the Super Bowl, Logan Wilson is calling it a career.<\/p>\n
The former Bengals and Cowboys linebacker retired on Wednesday after six seasons in the NFL.<\/p>\n
The 29-year-old did not specify in his Instagram post a reason for hanging up the spikes, but did say he\u2019s thrilled for \u201cmore time with family, new fitness challenges, and the next chapter of life.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cAfter a lot of thought and prayer, I\u2019ve decided to officially retire from the NFL,\u201d he wrote. \u201cFrom being a Wyoming kid with big dreams to hearing my name called in the 3rd round of the 2020 Draft by the Cincinnati Bengals\u2026 football gave me more than I ever could have imagined.\u201d<\/p>\n

Wilson was a four-year standout at the University of Wyoming, racking up 421 tackles (which rank fourth in school history), 10 interceptions and seven sacks.<\/p>\n
He was selected in the third round of the 2020 draft by the Bengals, spending the next five-plus seasons in Cincinnati. From 2021-24, he collected four straight seasons of at least 100 tackles. During the \u201921 campaign in which Cincinnati reached the Super Bowl, he recorded four interceptions, which stands as the best mark of his career and a number he would reach again two seasons later.<\/p>\n
He notched 30 tackles en route to Super Bowl 2022, adding nine more in the Big Game, a 23-20 loss to the Rams.<\/p>\n
Wilson was in the middle of a brouhaha over the since-banned hip-drop tackle<\/a> when he brought down the Ravens\u2019 Mark Andrews<\/a> with the move, forcing the tight end to miss seven games.<\/p>\n \u201cI honestly wasn\u2019t even sure\u00a0what a hip-drop tackle was\u00a0prior to that being brought to my attention after the game,\u201d Wilson said after the tackle of Andrews. \u201cObviously, I guess, it\u2019s something they\u2019re looking at doing, but it\u2019s hard in the position when you\u2019re trying to come from behind and trying just to find a way to bring him down. It\u2019s not like Mark Andrews is a small human. You\u2019re just trying to find a way to bring the guy down, and unfortunately that\u2019s what happened. I\u2019d never wish it upon him.\u201d<\/p>\n Halfway through this past season, Wilson was traded to the Cowboys and played the final seven games of his career with them. He was released in February.<\/p>\n \u201cWhen I look back on my career, I just feel grateful,\u201d Wilson added. \u201cNot many Wyoming kids get the chance to live out their dream in the NFL, and I never took a single snap for granted.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"A little over four years after reaching the Super Bowl, Logan Wilson is calling it a career.
