The Eagles haven\u2019t had a lot of opportunities to free up cap space this offseason, but Howie Roseman has been making it work with re-signing players, restructuring contracts, and adding many void years to incoming contracts. His latest move was to restructure Jake Elliott\u2019s contract in a win-win for the player and the team \u2014 he gets a fully guaranteed $5 million deal, and the Eagles reduce the kicker\u2019s cap hit by nearly a quarter of a million dollars.<\/p>\n
Despite outside concerns about Elliott after a 2025 season in which he struggled, internally, the team has continued to voice their confidence in the kicker. By restructuring Elliott\u2019s contract, the Eagles are signaling that he\u2019s likely still their guy in 2026.<\/p>\n
At the end of last season, Elliott couldn\u2019t point to one specific thing resulting in his eight missed kicks \u2014 seven field goals and one point after attempt \u2014, but didn\u2019t think it was something related to the mental aspect of the game. Perhaps more concerning than the total field goals missed, was where he was struggling, because he was only 4-of-8 from 50-plus yards, which is a distance he\u2019s historically been really solid from.<\/p>\n
