The Green Bay Packers announced a finalized coaching staff<\/a> under Matt LaFleur for the 2026 season on Thursday. LaFleur’s staff includes eight new hires (including defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon) and six internal promotions.<\/p>\n

A few things to know from the finalized coaching staff:<\/p>\n

— The Packers promoted DeMarcus Covington to assistant head coach on defense and switched his title from defensive line coach to outside linebackers coach. This is the best clue yet that the Packers will be running a base 3-4 front under Jonathan Gannon. Outside linebackers will be the primary edge rushers in the new front.<\/p>\n

— As expected, Luke Butkus is being retained as offensive line coach. His position group needs to stay healthy and rebound in a big way in 2026.<\/p>\n

— Luke Getsy is not only taking over the quarterbacks coach job, but also head coach on offense. These are new titles for Getsy and Covington in Green Bay. Rich Bisaccia was previously the lone assistant head coach.<\/p>\n

— Vince Oghobasse, who followed Jeff Hafley from Boston College to Green Bay, was promoted to defensive line coach after working as an assistant along the defensive front during the last two seasons. This will be his first time as a top position coach at the NFL level.<\/p>\n

— The new receivers coach is Noah Pauley, a highly respected collegiate receivers coach. He will replace Ryan Mahaffey, who followed Sean Mannion to Philadelphia.<\/p>\n

— Cody Harkey, who worked under Rich Bisaccia and Byron Storer last season, is getting a chance to be Cam Achord’s top assistant on special teams in 2026. Jeff Koonz, who was a defensive assistant in 2025, will move into an assistant role on special teams.<\/p>\n

— The secondary coaching staff was remade with veteran coaches. Bobby Babich takes over pass game coordinator for Derrick Ansley, while Daniel Bullocks is the new cornerbacks coach. Babich is entering Year 10 as an NFL assistant coach; Bullocks is going on Year 11.<\/p>\n
