{"id":822759,"date":"2026-03-20T08:36:20","date_gmt":"2026-03-20T08:36:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/822759\/"},"modified":"2026-03-20T08:36:20","modified_gmt":"2026-03-20T08:36:20","slug":"afc-notes-raiders-bengals-fields","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/822759\/","title":{"rendered":"AFC Notes: Raiders, Bengals, Fields"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Raiders landed <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.profootballrumors.com\/2026\/03\/2026-nfl-top-50-free-agents\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">PFR\u2019s No. 1-ranked free agent<\/a>, former Ravens center <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/L\/LindTy00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.profootballrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-03-19_pfr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Tyler Linderbaum<\/a>, when the negotiating window opened March 9. To reel in Linderbaum, the Raiders submitted a <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.profootballrumors.com\/2026\/03\/raiders-c-tyler-linderbaum-finalizing-deal\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">three-year, $81MM offer<\/a> \u2013 the richest in the history of his position. Former Raiders head coach Pete Carroll wishes they would have been that aggressive in addressing their offensive line last offseason. During Carroll\u2019s lone season in Las Vegas, the team finished 3-14 and allowed the most sacks in the NFL (64).<\/p>\n<p>Discussing the Raiders\u2019 2025 O-line with <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/story\/_\/id\/48178803\/pete-carroll-predicts-geno-smith-rebound-surprise-jets\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">ESPN\u2019s Rich Cimini<\/a>, Carroll observed: \u201cOur offensive guys up front, from the last couple of years, we got murdered. We needed to upgrade that more than we did. It didn\u2019t happen in the draft, and it didn\u2019t happen in the offseason.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Raiders signed veteran interior lineman <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/C\/CappAl00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.profootballrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-03-19_pfr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Alex Cappa<\/a> for two years and $11MM last offseason, but they have already <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.profootballrumors.com\/2026\/03\/raiders-release-g-alex-cappa\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">bailed on that investment<\/a>. Meanwhile, third-round rookies <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/R\/RogeCa01.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.profootballrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-03-19_pfr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Caleb Rogers<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/search\/search.fcgi?pid=GranCh00,GranCh21&amp;search=Charles+Grant&amp;utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.profootballrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-03-19_pfr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Charles Grant<\/a> combined for just 15 appearances. Rogers started in all six games at right guard, but Grant \u2013 a tackle \u2013 was on the field for a mere 59 offensive snaps.<\/p>\n<p>Now looking to further improve a line that <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pff.com\/news\/nfl-final-2025-nfl-offensive-line-rankings\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Pro Football Focus<\/a> rated as the worst in the league, the Raiders are expected to focus on the area in the draft. \u201cThey\u2019re going to draft a tackle day one, and they\u2019ll add a guard,\u201d one general manager told <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sportsboom.us\/nfl\/exclusive-raiders-intent-on-building-elite-offensive-line-for-rookie-qb-fernando-mendoza\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Jason La Canfora of SportsBoom<\/a>. \u201cThe line was terrible. They couldn\u2019t (run) block or (pass) protect.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>The GM made those comments before the Raiders\u2019 trade with the Ravens for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/C\/CrosMa00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.profootballrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-03-19_pfr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Maxx Crosby<\/a> <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.profootballrumors.com\/2026\/03\/ravens-nix-trade-for-raiders-maxx-crosby\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">collapsed<\/a>. Had it gone through, the Raiders would have collected two first-rounders for Crosby, including the 14th overall pick this year. They are now out of the running for a Day 1 offensive tackle unless they acquire another first-rounder. The Raiders are considered shoo-ins to use their top pick, No. 1 overall, on former Indiana quarterback <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sports-reference.com\/cfb\/players\/fernando-mendoza-1.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.profootballrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-03-19_cfb\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Fernando Mendoza<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Raiders have an established left tackle in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/M\/MillKo00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.profootballrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-03-19_pfr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Kolton Miller<\/a>, though the 30-year-old missed 13 games in 2025 with a high ankle sprain and a hairline fracture. Miller is on schedule in his recovery, however, and should be ready for OTAs, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/VinnyBonsignore\/status\/2030749224737124420\" rel=\"nofollow\">according to Vincent Bonsignore of the California Post<\/a>. Right tackle<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/G\/GlazDe00.htm\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"> DJ Glaze<\/a> has started in 31 of career 34 games, including all 17 last year, though the Raiders could attempt to upgrade on the former third-rounder in the draft.<\/p>\n<p>At guard, Las Vegas lost a starter when <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/P\/ParhDy00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.profootballrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-03-19_pfr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Dylan Parham<\/a> chose the Jets in free agency, but the team brought in former 49er <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/B\/BurfSp00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.profootballrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-03-19_pfr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Spencer Burford<\/a> to compete for a spot. Rogers, Burford, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/P\/PoweJa00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.profootballrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-03-19_pfr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Jackson Powers-Johnson<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/M\/MereJo00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.profootballrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-03-19_pfr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Jordan Meredith<\/a> are all candidates for the two starting guard jobs, which could change depending on how the draft unfolds. It would be optimal for the Raiders to continue building up their line to benefit Mendoza and second-year running back <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/J\/JeanAs00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.profootballrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-03-19_pfr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Ashton Jeanty<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s more from around the AFC:<\/p>\n<p>There was a changing of the guard at linebacker in Cincinnati in 2025. Not only did the Bengals release <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/P\/PratGe00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.profootballrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-03-19_pfr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Germaine Pratt<\/a> prior to the season, but they traded the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.profootballrumors.com\/2026\/03\/former-bengals-cowboys-lb-logan-wilson-retires\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">now-retired<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/W\/WilsLo00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.profootballrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-03-19_pfr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Logan Wilson<\/a> to the Cowboys before the Nov. 4 deadline. The Wilson swap came after rookies <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/K\/KnigDe00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.profootballrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-03-19_pfr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Demetrius Knight<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/C\/CartBa00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.profootballrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-03-19_pfr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Barrett Carter<\/a> took over as the Bengals\u2019 primary linebackers. Considering the Bengals have not made any notable moves at the position this offseason, it appears Knight and Carter will continue to lead their LBs in 2026, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/7121454\/2026\/03\/16\/bengals-free-agency-what-i-learned\/?unlocked_article_code=1.TlA.bw1O.J7OjQqGRpa_O&amp;source=athletic_user_shared_gift_article_copylink&amp;smid=url-share-ta\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Paul Dehner Jr. of The Athletic<\/a> writes. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/E\/ElliKa00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.profootballrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-03-19_pfr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Kaden Elliss<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/C\/ChenLe00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.profootballrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-03-19_pfr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Leo Chenal<\/a> were among potential free agent options, but the Bengals did not aggressively pursue either player, according to Dehner. Elliss signed with the Saints on a three-year, $33MM deal, while Chenal took the Commanders\u2019 three-year, $24.75MM offer.<br \/>\nQuarterback <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/F\/FielJu00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.profootballrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-03-19_pfr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Justin Fields<\/a> would have played 2026 on a $20MM base salary had there been no adjustments to the two-year, $40MM pact the Jets gave him last offseason. Instead, after the Jets <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.profootballrumors.com\/2026\/03\/jets-to-trade-qb-justin-fields-to-chiefs\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">traded<\/a> Fields to the Chiefs for a sixth-rounder on Monday, he will earn $11MM. The Jets will give Fields an $8MM signing bonus, while the Chiefs will pay his fully guaranteed $3MM salary, per <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/RapSheet\/status\/2033675075795222762\" rel=\"nofollow\">Ian Rapoport of NFL Network<\/a>.<br \/>\nWide receiver <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/T\/TolbJa00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.profootballrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-03-19_pfr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Jalen Tolbert<\/a>\u2018s one-year pact with the Dolphins is a veteran salary benefit deal worth $1.4MM, including $1.26MM in guarantees, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.profootballrumors.com\/2026\/03\/dolphins-wr-jalen-tolbert-agree-to-deal\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2<\/a> relays. Despite the minor investment, the former Cowboy could play a big role in a Miami receiving corps that no longer includes the traded <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/W\/WaddJa00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.profootballrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-03-19_pfr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Jaylen Waddle<\/a> or the released <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/H\/HillTy00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.profootballrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-03-19_pfr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Tyreek Hill<\/a>.
