The Green Bay Packers had a sneaky need<\/a> at tight end entering the offseason. With several waves of free agency now behind us, that assessment still holds. The market hasn\u2019t offered many reliable options. Still, the draft could provide intriguing late-round value, and Georgia\u2019s Oscar Delp<\/a> is one of the most appealing prospects.<\/p>\n

Delp worked out at his Pro Day on Wednesday. He\u2019s among the most athletic tight ends in this class, but his combination of traits truly separates him. Delp may not be the only prospect capable of it. Still, he\u2019s arguably the best at handling true inline blocking duties at a high level while also offering top-tier, potentially elite movement skills as a pass catcher.<\/p>\n

He attended the NFL Combine but didn\u2019t participate in on-field testing due to<\/a> medical concerns. It was later revealed that he played the entire season with a hairline fracture in his foot, something that doctors only discovered during a routine X-ray.<\/p>\n

Even without working out, Delp still spoke with the media. One of his answers at the podium likely caught Green Bay\u2019s attention.<\/p>\n

You know who else brings that same edge and physical mindset<\/a> as a blocker? Tucker Kraft<\/a>. And, honestly, the Packers could use more of that mentality. They need more true maulers in the trenches.<\/p>\n

Green Bay has already started to shift toward bigger, more physical offensive linemen, and leaning further into that approach makes sense. Adding a tight end with that same run-blocking mindset would reinforce that identity, while also giving the offense another dynamic piece in the passing game.<\/p>\n

Brian Gutekunst was in attendance for Georgia\u2019s Pro Day, giving him a chance to get a closer look at Delp. Both he and Howie Roseman have a long track record of drafting players out of Georgia, which makes this connection worth noting.<\/p>\n

The consensus big board ranks<\/a> Delp around No. 141 overall, which places him firmly in the fifth-round range. While Kraft looked on track for All-Pro consideration before tearing his ACL<\/a>, the depth behind him is concerning. Luke Musgrave<\/a> is entering the final year of his rookie deal, and John FitzPatrick<\/a> outsnapped him at one point last season. Meanwhile, Josh Whyle<\/a> profiles as a decent third option, but that\u2019s about it.<\/p>\n

There is a case to be made<\/a> for not ruling out Green Bay addressing the position earlier in the draft. Still, if they wait until Day 3, Delp would represent excellent value. Depending on how soon Kraft returns, Delp could realistically compete with Luke Musgrave<\/a> and Josh Whyle<\/a> for the starting role in Week 1 before settling into a more shared workload once No. 85 is fully back.<\/p>\n

If that happens, pairing Delp and Kraft could turn into a nightmare for defenses. It would give Green Bay a highly physical, tone-setting duo that can dominate as blockers while still creating problems in the passing game.<\/p>\n
