Campbell is a perfect fit for Monken’s offense

Now that Cleveland has filled out most of its starting offensive line via free agency, it’s time to start looking at a few depth options for the team in the 2026 NFL Draft. Though they could sign one or two more players this summer, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the Browns select two or three offensive linemen in the draft next month.

This year’s class is chock-full of potential in the middle rounds, and one of the most intriguing players in that range is Texas OG D.J. Campbell.

He has decent size at 6’3”, 313 lbs. with 34.5” arms, and he seems like an excellent developmental interior lineman for Cleveland based on his overall skillset and how it translates into Todd Monken’s offense.

He’s incredibly physical in the power run game as both a gapper and puller, which is what Cleveland’s offense should be utilizing more of in the future. Campbell’s not that explosive, but he makes up for it with a strong upper body and a powerful punch in both phases of the game. He also times up his initial punches very well, which goes a long when it comes to blocking 300+ pound interior defensive linemen.

Campbell is very good in a “phone booth” and is able to consistently steer his defender away from the ball when getting bullrushed. Having above-average core strength and torque allows him to consistently reset on bigger defensive linemen before they’re able to get a good rush going.

Overall, in a more power-heavy run scheme like the Browns should have going forward, D.J. Campbell seems like a no-brainer type of depth option in rounds 5 or 6. There’s even a chance that he could be a legitimate offensive guard-to-center convert at the next level as well, which would make even more sense for Cleveland.

Now that Cleveland has filled out most of its starting offensive line via free agency, it’s time to…

[2054
86,85,54,91914,4397,1696,2337,7,6
0":"post-828004","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-cleveland-browns","8":"tag-browns","9":"tag-cleveland","10":"tag-cleveland-browns","11":"tag-cleveland-browns-analysis","12":"tag-cleveland-browns-draft","13":"tag-cleveland-browns-roster","14":"tag-clevelandbrowns","15":"tag-football","16":"tag-nfl
["GET
