We\u2019ve already covered one piece of John Schneider\u2019s weekly radio on Seattle Sports ,as he gave his view on the Cleveland Browns proposal<\/a> to trade draft picks five years into the future. There were plenty of other tidbits from the rest of the show, including his view on the Seattle Seahawks running back room.<\/p>\n

Schneider joked that this is the \u201c2025 version of the offensive line\u201d conversation where everyone else is very worried about the position. He once again mentioned George Holani as a guy they\u2019re really excited about because he can do everything and takes care of the ball. His made the comment that \u201cyou can find guys\u201d at the RB position, which was in reference to the fact that there are multiple ways and times to acquire guys from free agency, the draft, trades, etc.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re really excited about Emanuel Wilson that we got from Green Bay\u2014a heavy runner with really nice feet he could he could catch it out of the back field,\u201d Schneider added, \u201cand just to double down on [George] Holani, like, the pass pro in the Super Bowl.\u201d<\/p>\n

He relayed the story from his time in Green Bay when they traded for Ryan Grant at the 53-man roster cut. Packers head coach Mike McCarthy was worried about starting a guy they had just traded for. Grant rushed for 956 yards that first season despite starting only seven games, and then followed that up with two consecutive 1,200-yard seasons. There\u2019s still plenty of time to add to that RB room, and the Seahawks front office is very well aware of that.<\/p>\n

Schneider also had a guest with him: Seahawks Assistant Director of Pro Personnel Armani Perez, who seems to be someone Schneider has taken under his wing. Perez gave a glimpse into what his job looks like, such as being given a group of other teams for him to be the GM. They\u2019re expected to know the ins and outs of those teams and spend much of their time reading articles and studying what\u2019s happening with those rosters. Makes me wonder how many front office guys on the other NFL teams are reading Field Gulls\u2026<\/p>\n

At one point, Schneider made a point to talk about some of the players they added. On cornerback Noah Igbinoghene, \u201cwe\u2019ve been trying to acquire him for a couple years.\u201d He had Perez talk about safety Rodney Thomas, who was a guy he was really excited about. Perez talked about how Thomas was fast, physical, and instinctive, and believes his best football is ahead of him with this coaching staff. He mentioned that Thomas \u201ctook a gamble on us\u2026he had options,\u201d so maybe we have another Julian Love type signing on our hands?<\/p>\n
