{"id":830154,"date":"2026-03-24T01:46:58","date_gmt":"2026-03-24T01:46:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/830154\/"},"modified":"2026-03-24T01:46:58","modified_gmt":"2026-03-24T01:46:58","slug":"ucla-will-return-to-the-rose-bowl-for-a-spring-game-on-may-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/830154\/","title":{"rendered":"UCLA will return to the Rose Bowl for a spring game on May 2"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>UCLA football fans will get to refamiliarize themselves with a beloved stadium well before the season kicks off.<\/p>\n<p>As expected, the Bruins will hold their spring game at the Rose Bowl at noon on May 2, the school announced Monday.<\/p>\n<p><img style=\"aspect-ratio:1.50146628;display:block\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-modal-image=\"38873219\" width=\"886\" height=\"590\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/crop-38403079.jpg\" alt=\"Aerial view of the Rose Bowl stadium in Pasadena, California, with UCLA branding.\" class=\"wp-image-38873219\"  \/>An aerial view of the Rose Bowl stadium on November 23, 2023 in Pasadena, California.<br \/>Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s a return to the stadium that the school considered abandoning for SoFi Stadium for the 2026 season before <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/02\/21\/sports\/ucla-bruins-to-play-at-rose-bowl-in-2026-instead-of-sofi\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">recently announcing <\/a>it would come back. But UCLA has not committed to remaining at its longtime home beyond next season and is being <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/02\/05\/sports\/rose-bowl-closer-to-keeping-ucla-bruins-in-pasadena\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">sued by the Rose Bowl and the City of Pasadena<\/a> for an anticipatory breach of contract.<\/p>\n<p>Admission for the spring game is free for fans who <a href=\"https:\/\/ucla.evenue.net\/events\/FBSPRING\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">request a ticket<\/a>, and the format of the event will be determined closer to the event.<\/p>\n<p>In recent years, UCLA has not held a true spring game, focusing more on individual drills and situational work.<\/p>\n<p><img style=\"aspect-ratio:1.45454545;display:block\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-modal-image=\"38873224\" width=\"858\" height=\"590\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/new-statue-late-great-ucla-121752892.jpg\" alt=\"Bronze statue of UCLA Bruins football coach Terry Donahue in front of the Rose Bowl.\" class=\"wp-image-38873224\"  \/> A statue of former UCLA Bruins football coach Terry Donahue stands outside the Rose Bowl in Pasadena. Los Angeles Times via Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>Regardless of what the event entails, there figures to be plenty of intrigue. New coach Bob Chesney has already galvanized fans with his early rebuilding efforts after the Bruins went 5-10 in parts of two seasons under predecessor DeShaun Foster.<\/p>\n<p>Chesney is coming off a season in which he guided James Madison to the College Football Playoff \u2013 a destination the Bruins have never come close to reaching.
