The Miami Dolphins<\/a> entered the offseason set to lose three tight ends in free agency – Darren Waller, Greg Dulcich and Julian Hill. And, while they’ve brought Dulcich back<\/a>, Hill left for the New England Patriots<\/a> and Waller is still on the market.<\/p>\n

With that, the Dolphins<\/a> needed to find at least one veteran tight end to join Dulcich in the room, so they brought in former Green Bay Packer Ben Sims.<\/p>\n

According to Over the Cap<\/a>, Miami gave Sims a one-year deal worth $1.33 million for 2026. That contract includes a $1.15 million and a $187,500 signing bonus. With the signing bonus being the only guaranteed money in the deal, the Dolphins could cut Sims any time before Week 1 and only have the $187,500 dead cap hit.<\/p>\n

At this point, it seems likely that Sims will be on the roster for Miami’s 2026 campaign, but if the team finds a prospect in the draft that they fall in love with, or a veteran that shakes free later in the offseason, they could move on from Sims without a second thought.<\/p>\n
