It’d be a great story. I don’t know. And I would love to tell everybody there’s some breaking news,” as speculation continues around Rodgers’ future with the Steelers. Rodgers signed a one-year deal with Pittsburgh in June 2025, and McCarthy was hired as the Steelers’ head coach in January 2026. Rodgers, now 42, helped lead Pittsburgh to the AFC North title and a playoff berth last season. He threw for 3,322 yards with 24 touchdowns and seven interceptions in 16 regular-season games, then struggled in a 30-6 wild-card loss to Houston, completing 17 of 33 passes for 146 yards with an interception as the Steelers’ season ended. McCarthy added, “but, you know, you know, it’s it’s it’s really cool to see Aaron at 42. You see, a young man at 22 and all that he’s been able to accomplish and you know, where he’s at in his personal life and, and trying to make this decision.” The two spent 13 seasons together in Green Bay, where McCarthy went 125-77-2 in the regular season and 10-8 in the playoffs, winning Super Bowl XLV. Rodgers became one of the league’s top quarterbacks in that span, throwing for more than 42,000 yards and 338 touchdowns for the Packers and McCarthy from 2008-18 while earning two MVP trophies during that span. McCarthy closed by saying, “So, he’s in a really good place.
