{"id":832213,"date":"2026-03-25T02:36:16","date_gmt":"2026-03-25T02:36:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/832213\/"},"modified":"2026-03-25T02:36:16","modified_gmt":"2026-03-25T02:36:16","slug":"raiders-name-mike-sullivan-quarterbacks-coach","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/832213\/","title":{"rendered":"Raiders name Mike Sullivan Quarterbacks Coach"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>HENDERSON, Nev. \u2013 Mike Sullivan has been named quarterbacks coach of the Las Vegas Raiders, the club announced Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>Sullivan enters his 21st season in the NFL and most recently worked with the Pittsburgh Steelers, serving as the team&#8217;s quarterbacks coach from 2021-23 and as a senior offensive assistant in 2024. In his second season with the club, Sullivan led in the development of 2022 first-round draft pick Kenny Pickett, who started the final 12 games of the season and led the team to a 7-5 finish as a starter. In 2021, Sullivan worked with Ben Roethlisberger during the final season of his 18-year career as he threw for 3,740 yards and 22 touchdowns, helping Pittsburgh to a postseason berth.<\/p>\n<p>Prior to joining Pittsburgh, Sullivan served as offensive coordinator for the New York Giants from 2016-17, where in his first season the team finished 11-5 and QB Eli Manning recorded his fifth consecutive 4,000-yard season. WR Odell Beckham Jr. ranked third in the NFL with 1,367 receiving yards.<\/p>\n<p>Before his second stint with the Giants, Sullivan spent two seasons (2012-13) as offensive coordinator for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Buccaneers featured a 4,000-yard passer (Josh Freeman \u2013 4,065 yards), a 1,000-yard rusher (Doug Martin \u2013 1,454 yards) and a 1,000-yard receiver (Vincent Jackson \u2013 1,384 yards) in 2012 and finished that season ranked ninth in total offense, setting a franchise record by averaging 363.8 yards per game.<\/p>\n<p>Sullivan won two Super Bowls\u2014XLII (2007) and XLVI (2011)\u2014during his first eight seasons with the Giants from 2004-11. He coached wide receivers for six seasons before being elevated to quarterbacks coach from 2010-11. In the Giants&#8217; 2011 Super Bowl season\u2014Manning&#8217;s second year working with Sullivan\u2014the quarterback achieved career highs in passing yards (4,933) and yards per attempt (8.4). In New York&#8217;s four playoff games, Manning averaged more than 300 yards per contest and finished the postseason with nine touchdowns against just one interception.<\/p>\n<p>As wide receivers coach for the Giants from 2004-09, Sullivan worked with a pair of 1,000-yard receivers in Plaxico Burress (2005, 2007) and Steve Smith (2009).Sullivan began his NFL coaching career in Jacksonville as a defensive quality control coach in 2002 and an offensive assistant in 2003.<\/p>\n<p>He coached for eight seasons in the collegiate ranks, beginning with a graduate assistant post at Humboldt State University in 1993. He coached linebackers at his alma mater, Army, from 1995-96 before moving on to coach defensive backs at Youngstown State University from 1997-98.
