The Jacksonville Jaguars<\/a> have been one of the quietest teams in the league during free agency so far.<\/p>\n

The team’s lone signing this month has been depth running back Chris Rodriguez Jr. Surely, the team will make some moves before the season begins considering there are several holes to fill.<\/p>\n

Zachary Perales of CBS Sports<\/a> recently identified one free agent each team should still sign, and for the Jaguars<\/a>, Perales suggested reuniting with a franchise legend- Calais Campbell.<\/p>\n

Campbell played for the Jaguars from 2017 to 2019 as part of the elite “Sacksonville” defense. The veteran defensive lineman earned Pro Bowl selections during all three of his seasons in Jacksonville and is one of the best defenders in franchise history.<\/p>\n

Regarding this potential reunion, Perales offered the following:<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Jaguars\u00a0have\u00a0Josh Hines-Allen\u00a0and\u00a0Travon Walker\u00a0leading the pass rush, but they desperately need more up front. Reuiniting with Campbell would give them some much-needed interior pocket pushing ability, and the same goes for McDonald, who is 25th in CBS Sports’\u00a0NFL Draft Prospect Rankings. Jacksonville lost a lot in free agency and needs to make it up in other places. Without a first-round pick, the Jaguars need to get resourceful.<\/p>\n

As Perales mentioned, the Jaguars need help on the defensive line next to the pass rushers. Campbell, even though he’s turning 40 soon, might be the best interior defensive lineman still available.<\/p>\n

In 2025, as a 39-year-old, Campbell, played in all 17 games for the Arizona Cardinals<\/a> and collected 43 tackles, 6.5 sacks, and nine tackles for loss. Pro Football Focus<\/a> gave Campbell a solid 72.2 grade for his season, which ranked 26th out of 134 qualified defensive linemen.<\/p>\n

Overall, Campbell has six Pro Bowl selections and 117 sacks on his resume. Even if Campbell isn’t elite like he once was, he’s a fan-favorite in Jacksonville, and his return would excite the fanbase.<\/p>\n

The Jaguars are hoping to contend again in 2026, so how cool would it be for Campbell to experience one more playoff run in Jacksonville?<\/p>\n
