Apparently, the Carolina Panthers<\/a> and quarterback Bryce Young have yet to even reach the negotiation table.<\/p>\n Executive vice president of football operations Brandt Tilis spoke with reporters on Tuesday. He was asked if the team’s outlook on Young has changed since the end of the season, specifically in regards to a contract extension for the former No. 1 overall pick.<\/p>\n “We haven’t had any discussions with his agent about a contract,” Tilis stated. “And any that we would have, we would just keep internal, anyway.<\/p>\n “So, it’s still the same. Still evaluating and just curious to see where it all goes and very excited about Bryce and all that he brings to us.”<\/p>\n Bryce, in 2025, helped bring Carolina their first playoff berth since 2017 and their first NFC South title since 2015. Young took a step forward in the process\u2014throwing for career-highs in completion percentage (63.6), yards (3,011), touchdowns (23) and passer rating (87.8).<\/p>\n Expert NFL picks: Exclusive betting insights only at USA TODAY.<\/a><\/p>\n Tilis was then asked if the Panthers would consider starting talks with Young and his representatives before the upcoming campaign.<\/p>\n “I’d never rule anything out,” he replied. “But I can’t tell you affirmatively ‘yes’ or ‘no.'”<\/p>\n The Panthers are expected to officially exercise<\/a> Young’s fifth-year option in the coming weeks, locking him in through the 2027 season.<\/p>\n Follow our free agency tracker<\/a> for all the latest moves.<\/p>\n
