{"id":833414,"date":"2026-03-25T19:16:52","date_gmt":"2026-03-25T19:16:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/833414\/"},"modified":"2026-03-25T19:16:52","modified_gmt":"2026-03-25T19:16:52","slug":"bengals-joe-flacco-calls-out-teams-dumb-decision-not-to-sign-him-to-start","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/833414\/","title":{"rendered":"Bengals&#8217; Joe Flacco calls out teams&#8217; &#8216;dumb&#8217; decision not to sign him to start"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Joe Flacco has some words for teams that passed him over as a possible starting quarterback.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The 41-year-old signal-caller signed a <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/03\/24\/sports\/joe-flacco-returning-to-bengals-on-one-year-6-million-contract\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">one-year, $6 million deal to return to the Bengals<\/a> and back up Joe Burrow, but had held out hope he could do better than be a QB2 after his play last season.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBelieve me, I wish I was a guy somewhere,\u201d Flacco said Wednesday, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/story\/_\/id\/48304474\/bengals-joe-flacco-says-teams-dumb-not-signing-start\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">according to ESPN<\/a>. \u201cAnd I think teams are dumb for not having me be that guy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201c\u2026 Not being one of those guys to go sign somewhere, yeah, it pisses me off a little bit. Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>Flacco, who is entering his 19th season in the NFL, began the 2025 season as the Browns\u2019 starting quarterback before being benched in favor of Dillon Gabriel.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Part way through the season, <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/10\/07\/sports\/bengals-trade-for-joe-flacco-as-shedeur-sanders-moves-up-browns-depth-chart\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Flacco was dealt to Cincinnati<\/a>, where he threw for 1,664 yards and 13 touchdowns with just four interceptions across nine appearances.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Flacco indicated that he thought that would be enough to get one more starting job.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI know enough not to get super tied up emotionally with certain things and how to think about how they might play out because you really have no idea,\u201d Flacco said. \u201cAnd who knows what those teams were thinking anyway, whether I was on their radar or not. I have no idea.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s not really for me to decide.
