{"id":833503,"date":"2026-03-25T20:19:47","date_gmt":"2026-03-25T20:19:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/833503\/"},"modified":"2026-03-25T20:19:47","modified_gmt":"2026-03-25T20:19:47","slug":"23-philadelphia-eagles-connections-to-this-ufl-season","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/833503\/","title":{"rendered":"23 Philadelphia Eagles connections to this UFL season"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">If you\u2019re interested in watching some spring football, the 2026 United Football League season kicks off later this week with the first game scheduled for 8:00 PM on Friday, March 27.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">There are a number of Philadelphia Eagles connections in the UFL (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcsports.com\/nfl\/profootballtalk\/rumor-mill\/news\/ufl-bans-the-tush-push-makes-field-goals-of-60-plus-yards-worth-four-points\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">notably NOT including the outlawed tush push<\/a>), so, let\u2019s run through those on a team-by-team basis.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">It\u2019ll be interesting to see if anyone below can use their current opportunity to re-launch an NFL career.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">Cain spent time with the Eagles from 2021-2022 before rejoining them during the 2023 offseason. He seems like the football version of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/bullpen\/AAAA_player\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">what they call an AAAA player in baseball<\/a>. While Cain has failed to stick in the NFL, he led the UFL in yards per reception last season.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">TDP won a Super Bowl LIX ring with the Eagles by being on their practice squad during the 2024 season.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">Originally an undrafted rookie free agent signing in 2022, Goodrich spent time in Philly until the Birds waived him in July 2024. Goodrich played 70 defensive snaps (as a nickel cornerback) and 40 special teams snaps during the Eagles\u2019 2023 season.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">Robinson spent some stints on the Eagles from 2022-2023 after previously overlapping with Jalen Hurts at Oklahoma.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">Ross caught one pass for six yards with the Eagles in 2024.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">The Eagles originally signed Square as a UDFA in 2013. They waived him ahead of his second NFL regular season and he went on to play in 93 more games (26 starts) over the next eight years. This is Square\u2019s first career coaching job.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">Davis was a 2017 UDFA signing that won a Super Bowl LII ring by being on Philly\u2019s practice squad that season.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">Ross spent time on the Eagles\u2019 offseason roster from May 2019 until July 2019.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">Burnett spent time on the Eagles from 2019-2020, where he logged eight targets for five receptions and 67 yards. He\u2019s younger than A.J. Brown.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">Harris spent multiple stints with the Eagles in 2019 but never actually appeared in a regular season game for them.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">Ika spent two different one week practice squad stints with the Eagles during the 2024 season.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">Perez was on the Eagles\u2019 offseason roster from April 9, 2019 until May 13, 2019. He notably quarterbacked the DC Defenders to an XFL title in 2023. Perez led the UFL in passing yards in 2025.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">G-Ward, who turns 31 in July, is still trying to keep the dream alive.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">I\u2019m convinced Smith, a 2022 fourth-round pick, can play in the NFL. He always looked good to me in training camp and preseason action. I\u2019ve certainly seen worse linebackers get playing time for the Eagles in the past.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">2024 UDFA signing who spent last offseason with the Las Vegas Raiders.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">Mayes was a 2025 UDFA signing that got cut to make room for a fill-in long snapper signing (Christian Johnstone) after Charley Hughlett got banged up in training camp last year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">Rogers spent 20 days with the Eagles in 2024 training camp.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">Howie Roseman trading a 2022 sixth-round pick for KVJ, who was a 2021 seventh-round pick by the Denver Broncos, was a curious move. His sole NFL action came with the Eagles in 2021 with 29 defensive snaps played and 23 special teams snaps played. He wasn\u2019t good.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">Garner played 27 defensive snaps and 45 special teams snaps with the Eagles as an undrafted rookie in 2023. He spent a brief stint on the Chicago Bears\u2019 offseason roster last year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">Robinson spent four days on the Eagles\u2019 roster last summer.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">Meadors spent time on the Eagles\u2019 offseason roster from May 2021 until August 2021.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">QB DORIAN THOMPSON-ROBINSON<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">The Eagles acquired DTR in a trade that sent Super Bowl LIX champion Kenny Pickett to the Cleveland Browns last year. DTR failed to win the Eagles\u2019 QB3 job, which prompted them to trade for Sam Howell \u2026 who is now with the Dallas Cowboys.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">Never forget that this is Hakeem Butler\u2019s sole regular season NFL offensive snap played:<\/p>\n<p>FORMER EAGLES PLAYERS INCLUDED IN ROSTER CUTS<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">These players were recently released with UFL teams trimming their rosters down to the regular season limit.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">Big Marv was on and off the Eagles\u2019 roster multiple times from September 2021 through August 2023. He logged 38 defensive snaps and three special teams snaps in the only two NFL games he ever played, both with the Eagles.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">Sagapolu spent 15 days on the Eagles\u2019 offseason roster in August 2023.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">Stephens spent time on the Eagles\u2019 offseason roster in 2024 after a successful rookie minicamp tryout.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">Okorafor was a 2023 undrafted rookie free agent signing out of Benedictine College.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">The Eagles originally signed Williams as an undrafted rookie free agent in 2022. He bounced on and off the team multiple times.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">Sykes spent time with the Eagles in training camp last year and had two different one-day stints on their practice squad during the 2025 regular season.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">Forgot about this guy.
