The Texas Education Agency has revoked former Celina head football coach and athletic director Bill Elliott\u2019s<\/a> teaching certification.<\/p>\n

The TEA website lists the Texas Educator Certificate for William Ely Elliott, the former coach\u2019s full legal name, as permanently revoked, which means it \u201chas been rendered permanently invalid without the opportunity to reapply for a new certificate.\u201d<\/p>\n

An educator would need to successfully complete an exam to have the certificate revalidated and resume teaching in Texas public schools, according to the website. <\/p>\n

When reached for confirmation, Celina ISD provided a statement to The Dallas Morning News.<\/p>\n

\u201cCelina ISD was notified on Friday, March 20, 2026, that Bill Elliott voluntarily surrendered his educator certificate in lieu of a TEA investigation related to an allegation of misconduct from his time as a teacher on or about 1995,\u201d the statement read. \u201cThis allegation was reported to TEA and not the District. Celina ISD was not made aware of the allegation by TEA until after the District accepted Mr. Elliott\u2019s resignation.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is the District\u2019s understanding from TEA that Mr. Elliott\u2019s action is not an admission of guilt; rather, it reflects the fact that he has retired from public education and has no interest in incurring the additional legal expense of dealing with any potential litigation in this matter.\u201d<\/p>\n

Elliott stepped down from his position in January following the fall arrest and investigation into his son, Caleb, who is accused of recording boys in the locker room at Moore Middle School. Caleb Elliott was indicted in February<\/a> on four charges, including possession of child pornography and two counts of sexual performance of a child, which are second-degree felonies. <\/p>\n

A third-party investigation by Celina ISD found no evidence Bill Elliott and school officials knew about his son\u2019s behavior but identified \u201csystemic issues\u201d surrounding Caleb Elliott\u2019s hiring, including that Bill Elliott pressured the former principal at Moore, Allison Ginn, into hiring his son. <\/p>\n

Bill Elliott has been named in one of four lawsuits from Celina ISD parents accusing administrators of negligence in protecting students from Caleb Elliott. <\/p>\n
