The lone outside free agent signing made by the Jacksonville Jaguars<\/a> this offseason was running back Chris Rodriguez. So let’s take a look back at Rodriguez’s 2025 season to see how Pro Football Focus’<\/a> grading system evaluated his play.<\/p>\n

But first, here is a look at PFF’s grading system for some context. While this metric is very helpful when it comes to quantifying a player’s performance, PFF’s grading system isn’t the be-all and end-all either. It is one metric out of many that are out there.<\/p>\n

90.0+: Elite80-89.9: High quality70-79.9: Good60-69.9: Above average50-59.9: Average40-49.9: Below average39.9 or less: PoorChris Rodriguez’s 2025 rushing grade: 78.4<\/p>\n

Rodriguez saw an increased role in 2025, when he carried the ball 112 times, averaging 4.5 yards per attempt. He also ranked among the best in\u00a0PFF’s<\/a>\u00a0average yards after contact metric, showcasing his ability to bounce off tackles and make defenders miss.<\/p>\n

This grade was cultivated from a very small sample size. Rodriguez had just four targets last season. He would catch three of those passes for 30 yards. During his three seasons in Washington, Rodriguez didn’t see many opportunities as a pass catcher. It will be interesting to see if that changes with the Jaguars<\/a>, where that is an important element out of the backfield in Liam Coen’s offense.<\/p>\n

Blocking grade: 47.7<\/p>\n

Again, this is another small sample size. Rodriguez had just 23 pass-blocking reps last season. With the Jaguars, it looks like the backfield will be a by-committee approach, with Rodriguez and Bhayshul Tuten shouldering the carries, while LeQuint Allen blocks and is on the field during more obvious passing situations.<\/p>\n

Special teams: 66.3<\/p>\n

Rodriguez played 47 special teams snaps, mostly contributing to the punt return and punt coverage units.<\/p>\n

Overall offensive grade: 73.5<\/p>\n
