<\/a>Health was not much of a factor in Lavonte David\u2019s retirement decision, the Bucs legend explained today on WDAE radio.<\/p>\nDavid said he just simply couldn\u2019t find the motivation to continue playing.<\/p>\n
Joe won\u2019t be cynical and suggest the money wasn\u2019t to David\u2019s liking.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt kind of dawned on me, probably about a week ago, that it was time for me to, you know, let the game go and move forward what what\u2019s God got planned for me in my next life,\u201d David told\u00a0The Drive<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201c\u2026 Every time I came into a season, you know, I always had a point to prove, and I just thought to myself there\u2019s really nothing left to prove. I always try to find a motivation factor but I couldn\u2019t find it. So I just came to the realization, \u2018like yeah, maybe it\u2019s just time for you to just let the game go.\u2019 It\u2019s been an incredible 14 years. It\u2019s been an incredible journey to get me this far. And I don\u2019t have no regrets about anything that I\u2019ve been through and I have no regrets about my decision.\u201d<\/p>\n David said his offseason knee surgery left him feeling great and he was confident in his playing ability because he responded adn recovered from the same surgery successfully in a prior season. \u201cI think it was all just set it stone in my mind that maybe it\u2019s just time to call it a career. I\u2019m already happy with what I\u2019ve done thus far,\u201d David said.\u201d<\/p>\n Was the Bucs\u2019 losing run at the end of last season a factor? Absolutely not, said David. \u201cIf I was really pissed off about that, I\u2019d be coming back for my 15th year to change that.\u201d<\/p>\n
