If we haven’t learned anything else about the Philadelphia Eagles<\/a> during Howie Roseman’s era as general manager, we have certainly discovered that silence rarely means inactivity. The noise surrounding interest in Jonathan Greenard may have quieted in recent weeks, but that doesn’t mean the interest has disappeared. If anything, it may have simply gone underground. Might this be part of the reason why Roseman has cleared so much cap space?<\/p>\n

We have heard and read multiple reports over the past month, from Dianna Russini to Jeremy Fowler, suggesting Philadelphia has done more than just check in on the Minnesota Vikings <\/a>pass rusher. The Eagles have explored what a deal might look like and, more importantly, what a long-term fit could be financially.<\/p>\n

Daniel Jeremiah recently guested on John Clark’s Take Off podcast<\/a> and briefly mentioned that interest in Greenard still exists. That’s a key distinction. This isn’t surface-level interest. It’s due diligence.<\/p>\n

From Minnesota’s perspective, the situation is complicated. There aren’t many consistent arguments that state the Vikings want to move Greenard, a player they’ve viewed as a foundational piece since signing him. When healthy, he’s delivered, including a standout 2024 campaign that placed him among the league’s most productive pass rushers.<\/p>\n

But the business side of football rarely stays simple.<\/p>\n

Greenard is seeking a reworked deal, and while his current contract isn’t outrageous by market standards, it creates tension given his injury concerns. A shoulder issue limited him to 12 games last season and contributed to a noticeable dip in sack production. This is a story that’s still worth watching. Public buzz may have cooled, but behind the scenes, the wheels could still be turning. With the draft approaching and teams reassessing priorities, it wouldn’t be surprising if this conversation heats up again quickly. As stated earlier, in Philadelphia, silence rarely means inactivity. Just when you think this is over, the Eagles can execute a trade seemingly out of nowhere.<\/p>\n
