For the third consecutive year, the Texans will host a joint practice with another NFL team.<\/p>\n
The Texans will have a joint practice with the Panthers in advance of their Aug. 16 preseason game, Carolina coach Dave Canales announced Tuesday at his press conference.<\/p>\n
The Texans held a joint session with the Los Angeles Rams last year with coach Sean McVay.<\/p>\n
During Ryans\u2019 first season as head coach of the defending AFC South champions, the Texans had a joint practice with the Miami Dolphins and his former San Francisco 49ers colleague Mike McDaniel.<\/p>\n
The Texans open the preseason Aug. 9 at the Minnesota Vikings and travel to play the Detroit Lions on Aug. 23.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Ryans has said it\u2019s extremely beneficial to break up the routine and practice against an opponent.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe main idea behind joint practice is you get a chance to play physical football,\u201d Ryans said last year. \u201cBoth teams treat each other like teammates like we would normally practice. No cheap shots or anything like that, but it\u2019s about getting good quality work in. <\/p>\n
\u201cOne of things I don\u2019t like is guys coming out trying to make it a shoving match, that\u2019s what it\u2019s not about. It\u2019s about getting in good work with different schemes. That\u2019s what it\u2019s all about.\u201d<\/p>\n
