However, Gallimore has yet to earn a PFF overall grade above 60.0 in any season, and his 56.6 PFF overall grade in 2025 ranked just 75th.

That contract, by the way, is for two years and $10.0 million with $5.0 million guaranteed.

Now here’s what our team had to say…

Sam Householder – Jedrick Wills and Braxton Jones made for a combo of moves that seem to muddle a key position. On one hand, I get the argument that you’re opening a competition to fill in for the injured Ozzy Trapillo. On the other hand, neither player’s signing moves the needle in a way that tells me “left tackle is definitely not going to be an issue in September.”

Jeff Berckes: Not re-signing Andrew “Big Bill” Billings. I understand that he doesn’t fit the Dennis Allen defense. I’m not arguing from a football X’s-and-O’s perspective. I just mean the vibes. I’m going to miss that massive human being.

Sarah DeNicolo – Feel like we have more holes now than we did prior to the offseason, nervous about relying heavily on rookies. Also, not a huge fan of Garrett Bradbury or bringing back Braxton Jones. Hope I’m wrong!

Mongo Peanut – The money spent on Neville Gallimore seems a little rich. Was hoping for a bigger splash at DT, and was underwhelmed by a decent payout to a middling talent.

Erik Duerrwaechter – I’m not particularly mad at any of the signings. Moreover, my ire is directed at the lack of a major addition to their DL. I do understand the logic of waiting until the draft to pair a young player with Montez Sweat off the edge. But their pass rush still lacks the teeth necessary to make a deep run in the playoffs.

Donald Gooch – Neville Gallimore. Come on – a guy named Neville in the trenches? But seriously, I dislike this less because of the player and more because this was the only significant move on a defensive line that needs a remake on the level of what the Bears are doing at safety.

Josh Sunderbruch – I’m disappointed in reports that they did offer two firsts for Crosby and hope that’s just smoke, but otherwise I think it was all fine.

Bryan Orenchuk – Kentavius Street. We need a difference maker at DE, not a placeholder. Street turns 30 before the season starts and has never had more than 3.5 sacks in his career. Wouldn’t be shocked if he didn’t make the team. Would have preferred a Cam Jordan or seasoned producer if we went the vet route.

Gary Baugher Jr. – Honestly, I don’t have one. I’m a very “wait and see” kind of person, and I hope every move pans out in some way. I will say, overall, the additions to the defensive line have been somewhat underwhelming, but I’m also optimistic about the draft there.

Lester A. Wiltfong Jr. – The Bears are paying Gallimore more than he’s ever made at any point in his six-year career. I could see if he was younger, then they’d be paying for some upside, but at 29 years old, this is who he is. He better be a perfect scheme fit and have the best year of his career, because so far, he hasn’t looked like a guy who should have warranted that kind of contract.

Now it’s your turn.
