Even after signing a pair of new guards in free agency, the Chargers are still expected to be in one of the top prospects at the position in this year\u2019s draft. Penn State\u2019s Vega Ioane is a popular name paired with the Chargers in many mock drafts up to this point but one other name to keep an eye on is Texas A&M\u2019s Chase Bisontis.<\/p>\n
Per NFL insider Mike Garafolo, Bisontis has over a dozen pre-draft meetings scheduled with teams, including the Chargers, Falcons, and Panthers.<\/p>\n
Bisontis is widely seen as the draft\u2019s No. 2 guard behind Ioane and likely going to be a late first-round pick when all is said and done. If Ioane is off the board by pick 22, it would be tempting for the Bolts not to possibly reach a bit to land him.<\/p>\n
The 6\u20195, 315-pound Bisontis started 36 games over three seasons with the Aggies. He played both right guard and right tackle, but guard is most certainly where he will play at the next level. His 5.02 in the 40-yard dash was impressive for someone of his size while his 29 bench reps was also amongst the top marks at this year\u2019s combine.<\/p>\n
Scouts believe Bisontis is a scheme-independent blocker who can thrive with his movement skills stacked on top of a rugged, nasty mentality.
