CHARLOTTE, N.C. \u2013 The Carolina Panthers partnered with Samaritan\u2019s Feet on Friday to give out shoes to kids at David Cox Elementary School in northeast Charlotte.<\/p>\n
Organizers say every student got a new pair of sneakers at the event. They hope the effort encourages students to build healthy habits and stay active for at least one-hour every day.<\/p>\n
Panthers running back Jonathan Brooks says it\u2019s a cause he\u2019s passionate about. Brooks says, \u201cAny type of way that you can give back to the community is always a good opportunity. As a kid, to get free shoes, to get an opportunity to meet NFL players, it\u2019s always a great opportunity and it\u2019s pretty awesome.<\/p>\n
The sneakers given out were part of a donation made by the David and Nicole Tepper Foundation.<\/p>\n
