Are you still holding out hope for a \u201cbig\u201d move before the season starts?<\/p>\n
Jeff Berckes: Hope? Let me tell you something, my friend: Hope is a dangerous thing. Hope can drive a man insane. It\u2019s got no use on the inside. You\u2019d better get used to that idea. Having said that\u2026 if you\u2019ve cheered for this team for more than a decade, you\u2019ve got a few screws loose. Of course, I\u2019m holding out hope for the splashy move. I\u2019m always ready to get hurt again.<\/p>\n
Gary Baugher Jr. – I\u2019ve moved on from that. Right now, the only huge splash that seems to be left on the table would be something involving Maxx Crosby, but I think the drama surrounding the fallout with the Ravens and the price tag not changing will make this deal unfeasible.<\/p>\n
Mongo Peanut – My expectation for a big move is low at the moment. I think Poles trusts the foundation and doesn\u2019t want to do anything to jeopardize their trajectory. A big splash that I expect at this point is a trade up or down in the draft.<\/p>\n
Sam Householder – No, I think it\u2019s on to the draft at this point. There are no big moves to be made without coughing up future draft capital.<\/p>\n
Sarah DeNicolo – Really doubt any big, splashy move is coming based on they haven\u2019t restructured any contracts, and don\u2019t have a ton of cap space left.<\/p>\n
Donald Gooch – No. Bears will need to restructure contracts just to sign the draft class and open up in-season cap space. I think the Bears are content to make their splash additions past this point in the NFL draft.<\/p>\n
Josh Sunderbruch – Not at all. I like the responsible and measured approach.<\/p>\n
Bryan Orenchuk – Big to me would be a seasoned vet at DE despite not signing anyone to a massive contract. If we can simply improve our pass rush OUTSIDE of the draft, I\u2019d be thrilled.<\/p>\n
Erik Duerrwaechter – Yes. The Bears have managed themselves fairly conservatively aside from the (excellent) Devin Bush and aforementioned Coby Bryant signings. Ryan Poles has even conceded he\u2019s sniffed around Maxx Crosby in a potential trade that still can happen. Which might indicate he\u2019s in the trade market for help at DE. It just feels like they\u2019re biding their time until the right player at the right price becomes available.<\/p>\n
Lester A. Wiltfong Jr. – Nah. This offseason feels like the Bears were content to make minor scheme-specific tweaks to the defense, while counting on the offense to take a natural leap in year two under Ben Johnson. They\u2019ll have more wiggle room in 2027. However, the longer Cameron Jordan goes unsigned, the more likely it becomes that he will be reunited with Dennis Allen.<\/p>\n
