{"id":840239,"date":"2026-03-29T03:30:16","date_gmt":"2026-03-29T03:30:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/840239\/"},"modified":"2026-03-29T03:30:16","modified_gmt":"2026-03-29T03:30:16","slug":"caleb-williams-responds-to-skip-bayless-anti-iceman-stance","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/840239\/","title":{"rendered":"Caleb Williams responds to Skip Bayless\u2019 anti-Iceman stance"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">Professional troll Skip Bayless weighed in on the debate regarding Bears quarterback Caleb Williams\u2019 attempted trademark of the \u201cIceman\u201d nickname on Friday, and it appears the young quarterback has something to say back.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">\u201cI\u2019m a Caleb Williams fan,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/RealSkipBayless\/status\/2037550592198066533?s=20\" rel=\"nofollow\">Bayless tweeted<\/a>. \u201cBut I was a much bigger Iceman Gervin fan, and I\u2019m offended Caleb and Co. are trying to steal George\u2019s all-time great nickname.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">The \u201cIceman\u201d nickname had also been used for former San Antonio Spurs star George Gervin, who played 14 seasons of professional basketball and made nine All-Star appearances throughout the 1970s and 1980s. However, Gervin did not have the nickname trademarked, sparking controversy when Williams attempted to do so for his own branding.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">Williams responded to Bayless, who has made more money than any of us ever will by providing little of substance to the sports media landscape. Needless to say, Chicago\u2019s quarterback did not approve of Bayless\u2019 choice of words to describe the situation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">Bayless would then go on to tweet a 20-minute video in response to Williams\u2019 response to his tweet. As of this writing, the post has more comments than likes.
