The Dallas Cowboys continued to shop for new toys for their rookie defensive coordinator Christian Parker<\/a> with the addition of big defensive end Jonathan Bullard<\/a> on Saturday.<\/p>\n

Here are five things to know about the newest Cowboy.<\/p>\n

1. The basics<\/p>\n

2. Big fella<\/p>\n

The first thing you\u2019ll notice about Bullard is his massive stature.<\/p>\n

The 6-3, 290-pounder has made a living playing in the trenches in the NFL.<\/p>\n

Bullard is a 6\u20193\u201d, 290-pound interior defensive lineman drafted by the Chicago Bears in the third round of the 2016 NFL Draft. He\u2019s a strong run defender who brings experience and reliability, projecting to be a solid rotational piece for the #Cowboys<\/a>.<\/p>\n

3. Fitting the mold?<\/p>\n

That size might be exactly what the Cowboys are looking for in a depth defensive lineman like Bullard.<\/p>\n

With new defensive coordinator Christian Parker taking over that side of the ball for the Cowboys, Dallas is transitioning to a base 3-4 defense.<\/p>\n

Bullard fits the mold of the big, powerful defensive end that Parker is looking for, someone who can slot in right behind the similarly huge Quinnen Williams (6-3, 303 pounds) on the depth chart.<\/p>\n

4. Veteran journeyman<\/p>\n

Bullard spent all four years at Florida where he posted a solid collegiate career and was a third-round pick of the Bears in the 2016 NFL draft.<\/p>\n

He spent three seasons in Chicago and has since become an NFL journeyman, as the 32-year-old Bullard played for the Cardinals, Seahawks, Falcons, Vikings and Saints before winding up with the Cowboys.<\/p>\n

5. Reunited with Cowboys\u2019 assistant<\/p>\n

The signing reunites Bullard with Cowboys defensive line coach Marcus Dixon, who is a new hire on Parker\u2019s defensive staff<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Bullard spent time under Dixon in Minnesota when both were with the Vikings, which is the only team with whom Bullard has spent more than one season since he left the Bears.<\/p>\n

Bullard started all 17 games for the Vikings that season, totaling a sack and seven tackles for loss.<\/p>\n
