<\/a><\/p>\nAgain, it’s important to point out that McCaffrey has played receiver for only four seasons. He showed tremendous promise as a receiver at Rice, catching 71 passes and 13 touchdowns in his final college season. Washington is showing patience with McCaffrey, which is smart. Success runs in his family.<\/p>\n
McCaffrey’s growth from his first year to his second was encouraging. It’s unfortunate that it was ruined due to injury. One play from Washington’s Week 5 win over the Chargers showed McCaffrey’s potential.<\/p>\n
New offensive coordinator David Blough plans to run a different scheme than what Kliff Kingsbury ran, which could also benefit McCaffrey.<\/p>\n
So, while no one is saying that McCaffrey is the answer to Washington’s receiver problem, he shouldn’t be overlooked. He’ll be 25 next season, is still learning the position, and the team believes in him.
