The New York Jets have been linked to polarizing quarterback prospect Ty Simpson<\/a> for quite some time, and the idea of picking him at No. 16 overall in the 2026 NFL Draft is starting to look like a more realistic idea with each passing day. <\/a><\/p>\n

Not only do the Jets need to consider picking Simpson to be their next franchise quarterback with the No. 16 overall pick, but they also need to prepare for a world where Simpson isn’t even there at No. 16 because someone else managed to snatch him up.<\/p>\n

The Jets will need to bring in another quarterback behind Geno Smith, and even if Simpson is off the board, fans should start familiarizing themselves with one of these five prospects in the 2026 NFL Draft if the Alabama product is off the board.<\/p>\n

5 QBs Jets could pick in 2026 NFL Draft if they miss on Ty Simpson<\/p>\n

5. Jalon Daniels, Kansas<\/p>\n

Daniels’ 6-0 frame is a mark against him, but he pairs some tremendous athleticism with a willingness to stay in the pocket and deliver accurate throws despite contact. With enough arm talent to whip the ball downfield, Daniels is a draftable prospect with the tools needed to take off under the right coaching. <\/p>\n

4. Sawyer Robertson, Baylor<\/p>\n

Robertson will spray the ball all over the field due to some inaccuracy as a pocket passer, but the arm and the quick processing are real positive traits, and the Jets should be willing to work with someone who shows the ability to make high-difficulty throws.<\/p>\n

3. Cole Payton, North Dakota State<\/p>\n

Payton’s playmaking chops are already excellent, and he has a strong enough left arm to connect on NFL-level deep balls. The Jets will need to weigh those pluses against the fact that he has one year of FCS starting experience and put up inferior stats to those of practice squad player and 2025 late-rounder Cam Miller.<\/p>\n

2. Drew Allar, Penn State<\/p>\n

Allar’s big arm, ability to avoid turnovers, and pre-snap processing will earn him some praise from Frank Reich, but what could ultimately turn things against him<\/a> is the fact that he has some major decision-making concerns and accuracy issues that need some major developmental energy to overcome. <\/p>\n

1. Taylen Green, Arkansas <\/p>\n

Green is this year’s “all traits, minimal production” guy.
