Every Baltimore Ravens fan is itching to see Trey Hendrickson take the field in 2026. The blockbuster signing<\/a> is set to transform a defense that struggled mightily last year, especially when it came to pressuring opposing quarterbacks.<\/p>\n

Hendrickson\u2019s presence brings more than just sacks. While his 81 career sacks are just what the doctor ordered for the 30-sack unit, his mentorship could have an even bigger impact\u2014especially on 2025 second-round pick Mike Green.<\/p>\n

On an episode of The Set with Terron Armstead<\/a>, Hendrickson spoke with his former teammate about the importance of being a veteran leader. Specifically, he highlighted the process of being there for young players like Green.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m a competitor, and I know how to compete. [I] learned what it took to be a vet and to be a good teammate through the process,\u201d Hendrickson said. \u201cIt’s just a fun time to give this knowledge that I’ve been given through so many great players to help mold guys like Mike Green into the best version of himself.\u201d<\/p>\n

Baltimore Ravens should watch Mike Green take off in year two<\/p>\n

Mike Green\u2019s rookie campaign was a bit underwhelming. He was a highly-touted prospect coming out of Marshall, who showcased outstanding quickness and bend as a pass rusher. He fell to Baltimore in the second round due to off-the-field concerns, but eventually played in all 17 games in 2025. However, he only recorded 3.5 sacks. To be fair, though, it wasn’t entirely his fault. The whole group up front struggled.<\/p>\n

Green flashed in the second half of last season. After a really slow start, it seemed like he found a bit of a rhythm as the year went on. There were some really encouraging signs, and without the luxury of having any sort of star power on the opposite edge, that\u2019s definitely stock that fans can buy into. Now, he\u2019ll have a four-time Pro Bowler suiting up next to him in Hendrickson. And the 31-year-old sounds more than willing to take Green under his wing. <\/p>\n

While Baltimore initially wanted to pair Hendrickson with Maxx Crosby<\/a>, they backed out of the Crosby trade<\/a>, leaving a significant number of reps available for Green. They were never going to let Green fall behind in the depth chart, but with the current state of the roster following their decision to nix the trade<\/a>, he\u2019s going to have every opportunity to break out in his sophomore season. <\/p>\n

There is likely still one pass-rush addition waiting in the wings, whether that be in free agency or the draft, but the red carpet is rolled out for Mike Green to be the Robin to Trey Hendrickson\u2019s Batman. This is the best-case scenario for Green, and we\u2019ll have to wait and see if it pays off.
