{"id":841147,"date":"2026-03-29T16:04:20","date_gmt":"2026-03-29T16:04:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/841147\/"},"modified":"2026-03-29T16:04:20","modified_gmt":"2026-03-29T16:04:20","slug":"chargers-could-still-solve-mistake-with-saints-star-free-agent","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/841147\/","title":{"rendered":"Chargers Could Still Solve Mistake With Saints&#8217; Star Free Agent"},"content":{"rendered":"<p id=\"inline-text-0\" class=\"mt-[18px] md:mt-0 mb-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"6c\">It\u2019s easy to overlook the problem at edge rusher for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.si.com\/nfl\/chargers\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Los Angeles Chargers<\/a> as NFL free agency winds down and the draft inches closer.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-1\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"6f\">After all, it\u2019s all eyes on the fact the Chargers needed to upgrade all three spots on the interior offensive line in front of Justin Herbert and new coordinator Mike McDaniel. One could argue, though, that the Chargers really only upgraded one of the three spots, via signing center Tyler Biadasz.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-2\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"6i\">But that edge-rusher problem is still, well, a problem.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-3\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"6l\">Maybe the Chargers don\u2019t address the edge in the first round of the upcoming draft. But luckily for them, there are some rather major names still available on the open market who might just be interested in coming aboard.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Chargers, Saints star Cam Jordan linked in NFL free agency<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/01kmx0vwcsgmnmk12q17.jpg\" alt=\"New Orleans Saints defensive end Cameron Jordan\" title=\"New Orleans Saints defensive end Cameron Jordan\" width=\"5663\" height=\"3185\" class=\"undefined w-full w-full blur-[5px]\" q:id=\"6y\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Cameron Jordan | Stephen Lew-Imagn Images<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-6\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"72\">New Orleans Saints star Cam Jordan is one of the biggest names left and his return to the team he\u2019s spent every year with since 2011 isn&#8217;t a sure thing.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-7\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"75\">Onlookers have started to draw the lines from Jordan to the Chargers now, too.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-8\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"78\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbssports.com\/nfl\/news\/cameron-jordan-free-agency-saints\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Shanna McCarriston and Carter Bahns<\/a> of CBS Sports recently tabbed the Chargers as one of Jordan\u2019s best landing spots:\u00a0<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-9\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"7b\">\u201cJordan may not be a long-term solution, but he would be a stopgap option at least who would help the Chargers maintain some of the best financial flexibility in the league. His modest price would also allow this team to spend more heavily on its greatest need: offensive line.\u201d<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-10\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"7e\">Jordan is 36 years old, so he\u2019s probably not going to want to just go to a rebuilding team. The Chargers are a win-now contender.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-11\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"7h\">And those Chargers admitted the massive problem on the edge last year when they traded for Odafe Oweh. He promptly broke out in the system, then they lost him in free agency.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-12\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"7k\">Jordan would be one heck of a stopgap solution.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-13\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"7n\">Tuli Tuipulotu and Khalil Mack are still the heavy hitters for the Chargers in this area. But Bud Dupree would get bumped for Jordan and they have yet to get the hoped-for jump from Kyle Kennard.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-14\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"7q\">Knowing the conservative Chargers, this one would come down to cost, still. If Jordan wants a big lump sum, maybe best to forget the idea.
