Cornerback was a position that was surprisingly formidable for the New Orleans Saints<\/a> in 2025. Despite losing starters Marshon Lattimore and Paulson Adebo from the previous year, second-year corner Kool-Aid McKinstry and rookie Quincy Riley teamed up to form a strong tandem. Along with Alontae Taylor, this trio helped the Saints rank fourth against the pass. Taylor departed in free agency earlier this month, leaving a hole most think the Saints will fill through the 2026 NFL Draft next month.<\/p>\n

Among several names to watch early in the draft at this position is Treydan Stukes, the Arizona Wildcats talented corner. One of several intriguing prospects at a deep position, Stukes could be off the board before the end of the draft’s second day.<\/p>\n

One of the better stories in the draft, Stukes was a walk-on at Arizona after being lightly recruited out of Millennium High School in Arizona. Predictably, he didn’t see the field much as a freshman in 2020 but began to earn more time toward the end of the 2021 campaign. By 2022, Stukes was a regular in the Wildcats secondary and had an interception along with 5 passes broken up and 3.5 tackles for loss that year.<\/p>\n

Stukes had similar impacts in 2023 and 2024. He intercepted 1 throw each season and had a combined 11 passes broken up with 6.5 tackles for negative yardage. The 2025 season was his finest yet. Stukes led the Wildcats with interceptions and broke up 6 throws. The former walk-on finished his collegiate career with 1st Team All-Big 12 honors and a 2nd Team All-American selection.<\/p>\n

Stukes and his perseverance is one of the best stories in this year’s draft that will probably continue with him being a Day pick. But make no mistake, he’s also a player who will be a legitimate factor for an NFL defense. If there’s one thing he’s proven, it’s that he’s a student of the game and works hard to strengthen his best attributes and minimize his playing weaknesses.<\/p>\n

Treydan Stukes doesn’t quite have the versatility or physicality that the Saints lost with Alontae Taylor. However, he can be an immediate asset as an outside man corner with some slot value and the upside to improve his off-ball coverage ability.
