On Sunday, the Minnesota Vikings announced former Safety and Ring of Honor member Joey Browner had died. He was 65 years old. <\/p>\n
The six-time pro-bowler was selected by Minnesota in the first round of the 1983 NFL draft with the 19th pick of the draft. During his storied career, Browner would amass over 1,000 tackles, 37 interceptions, 18 forced fumbles and recover 17 fumbles through 138 regular-season games for Minnesota.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ve lost a great friend and one of the best Vikings teammates,\u201d Fellow Viking and Ring of Honor member Steve Jordan said. \u201cGod blessed Joey with phenomenal talent and a big heart to love people and be a beacon of positivity. Truly, he will be missed.\u201d<\/p>\n
Browner played a total of nine seasons for the Vikings (1983-91) before spending his final season in Tampa Bay. He ranks third in team history for games played by a safety.<\/p>\n
