The New York Jets<\/a> have a new offensive coordinator (Frank Reich) and a new starting quarterback (Geno Smith<\/a>). Yet, after scoring the fourth-fewest points in the NFL last season, it\u2019s a bit surprising that the Jets haven\u2019t added even one wide receiver to a group that could use more proven playmakers. <\/p>\n

However, Jets general manager Darren Mougey may be considering a trade for a veteran receiver who would immediately be handed a starting role. According to ESPN\u2019s Jets insider Rich Cimini<\/a>, the Jets may still swing a deal. <\/p>\n

\u201cDon\u2019t sleep on the possibility of Mougey trading for a veteran,\u201d Cimini stated. \u201cIt\u2019s already been an active offseason for wide receiver trades, and you\u2019re talking about a GM who has made 12 player trades in a little over a year. Brian Thomas Jr. (Jacksonville Jaguars), Rashod Bateman (Baltimore Ravens), Quentin Johnston (Los Angeles Chargers) and Dontayvion Wicks (Green Bay Packers) have been mentioned as trade possibilities.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mougey has been an active participant in trades. That\u2019s how the Jets got Adonai Mitchell last season in the Sauce Gardner deal with the Colts. <\/p>\n

Yet, there\u2019s no doubt that the Jets could still use upgrades to pair with Garrett Wilson and Mitchell. It\u2019s possible they\u2019ll find one soon enough. <\/p>\n

However, some of the names listed above may not actually be available. It\u2019s doubtful that the Jaguars are ready to deal Thomas, the 23rd overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. Then again, a strong enough offer could change Jacksonville\u2019s mind. <\/p>\n
