And of course, when Rodgers tells the team his decision, it might not be reported to the public until later.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">Last year, Rodgers officially joined the Steelers on June 6, but reporting from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.si.com\/nfl\/aaron-rodgers-steelers-built-trust-signed-deal\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Sports Illustrated\u2019s Albert Breer <\/a>later revealed that the team had been confident he would sign well in advance. This time, if you take Rooney\u2019s words at face value, the team isn\u2019t quite as sure.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">Rodgers is 42. In 2025 with the Steelers, he passed for 3,322 yards, 24 touchdowns, and seven interceptions.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">\u201cThere\u2019s definitely a decompressing period that goes on with the older guys (after the season),\u201d new Steelers head coach McCarthy told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.behindthesteelcurtain.com\/pittsburgh-steelers-news\/166846\/steelers-mike-mccarthy-aaron-rodgers-future-packers-cam-heyward-retirement-quarterback-preparing-for-both-scenarios\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">ESPN Milwaukee in February<\/a>, \u201cand that\u2019s where we are.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Another day, another bit of speculation regarding Aaron Rodgers\u2019 NFL future.
