One of the Kansas City Chiefs<\/a>‘ biggest offseason signings has been luring away Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker from the Seattle Seahawks<\/a>.<\/p>\n

With the Chiefs’ run game last season horrific, the front office knew it needed a big change-up in 2026.<\/p>\n

Isiah Pacheco and Kareem Hunt were free agents, and with Pacheco already signing with another team, the makeover is in full swing.<\/p>\n

Walker looms as a potential wildcard for the Chiefs in 2026, and for head coach Andy Reid, he knows exactly what sort of player he’s getting.<\/p>\n

“He’s a good football player, and it won’t change. He’s not gonna change coming to us,” Reid said via NFL.com<\/a>. “He’s still going to be a good football player. As long as he stays healthy and moves forward, good things can happen for you. We know that the run game’s important and we’ve got good offensive linemen in front of him, so that will be a plus for him. It should be a plus for our football team.”<\/p>\n

Chiefs’ run game revamped with Walker<\/p>\n

Patrick Mahomes struggled last season, and there is a case to be made that one reason was the lack of support in the run game.<\/p>\n

Often having to throw his team to a win, defenses would sit back and crowd the secondary because there was no threat on the ground\u2014there is now.<\/p>\n

With Walker, the Chiefs’ run game will command respect from the defense, and that will, in theory, allow the passing lanes for Mahomes to open up, and he can cook.<\/p>\n

Granted, this is a projection, but there’s no denying the Chiefs’ run game will be vastly improved in 2026.<\/p>\n

And Walker will be a reason why.<\/p>\n
