The Ravens have a strong alumni network in the football world. More than 140 former players have coaching or administrative jobs, and that list now has one more name: Marcus Peters.<\/p>\n
The former Pro Bowl cornerback has taken a head coaching job at his alma mater, McClymonds High School in Oakland, California. He succeeds his father, Michael, who held the job for more than a decade and secured five state championships.<\/p>\n
Peters starred for the Warriors\u2019 football and track teams with four different positions on the gridiron and two championships as a sprinter. He committed to the University of Washington and racked up 11 interceptions in three years before taking his talents to the pros. After an eight-year career with four different teams, he retired in 2024 and will now take over his father\u2019s position.<\/p>\n
Known as a cerebral player, Peters was dedicated to studying film and recognizing patterns from opposing offenses. He was the NFL\u2019s premier ballhawk during his career and led all players in interceptions, return yardage, and pick-sixes between 2015 and 2023.<\/p>\n
Peters\u2019 football knowledge was respected by teammates and coaches alike. In a 2021 preseason game against Washington, Ravens defensive coordinator Don \u2018Wink\u2019 Martindale handed over playcalling duties to the then-28-year-old for the second half. The defense pitched a shutout for the rest of the game, highlighting Peters\u2019 potential as a coach.<\/p>\n
Now 33 years old, Peters will get a chance to test his mettle leading a team for the first time.
