The 49ers haven\u2019t been shopping around cornerback Renardo Green<\/a>.<\/p>\n

San Francisco general manager John Lynch<\/a> shut down any trade rumors surrounding the up-and-coming defender when talking to reporters<\/a> on Sunday at the NFL Annual Meeting in Phoenix.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo. I don’t know where that came from,\u201d Lynch said. \u201cSome of those things — \u2018Where there’s smoke, there’s fire\u2019 — that was never. Never have spoken to anyone. We’re really excited [about Green].\u201d<\/p>\n

Green, 25, has played a key role in the 49ers\u2019 defense through two seasons.<\/p>\n

He has appeared in 31 regular-season games since San Francisco selected him with the No. 64 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft and has collected 121 combined tackles and 23 passes defensed.<\/p>\n

Of course, Green has encountered some bumps in the road<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

But Lynch and the 49ers are excited for Green\u2019s future, especially in tandem with new defensive coordinator Raheem Morris<\/a> and new defensive backs coach Jerry Gray<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cRaheem is extremely excited to work with Renardo,\u201d Lynch said. \u201cHe sees a lot of tools that are kind of untapped, and some of that’s on Renardo. We do need him to play better. I think he can be a big-time player; we did when we drafted him. He hadn’t been bad by any account, but we think there’s a lot more in there.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd we’re excited with Raheem, Jerry Gray. Jerry, it’s a trip; my rookie year, he’s a teammate of mine in Tampa [Bay], and now he’s back in our building. He’s an awesome guy. I knew he’d be a coach back then. He taught me a lot about football, so I’m excited to have Jerry. I’m really excited to have Raheem \u2026 A lot of good stuff.\u201d<\/p>\n

It sounds like Green will remain in the Bay for the foreseeable future<\/a>, with the franchise envisioning \u201ca lot of good stuff\u201d during the 2026 NFL season.<\/p>\n
