The Denver Broncos<\/a> are finally free from the salary cap fallout of former quarterback Russell Wilson’s contract.<\/p>\n

After cutting Wilson in 2024, the Broncos took on the largest dead money salary cap hit\u00a0in NFL history<\/a>\u00a0($85 million), spread out over two seasons. That dead money is now finally off the team’s books<\/a>, and they now have a much healthier cap situation going into the 2026 campaign.<\/p>\n

Denver currently has the second-lowest “dead money” salary cap total in the NFL ($3,385,588), according to data from OverTheCap.com<\/a>. Only the Seattle Seahawks ($483,723) have less dead money counting against their cap.<\/p>\n

The Broncos’ three largest dead money cap hits this year are linebacker Dre Greenlaw ($2,166,666), wide receiver Trent Sherfield ($850,000) and running back Audric Estime ($169,562). Elsewhere in the NFL, the Miami Dolphins have the largest dead money total ($179,204,257) in the league, followed by the New Orleans Saints ($112,108,154), according to OTC.<\/p>\n
