After trading for Jaylen Waddle<\/a>, the Denver Broncos<\/a> are suddenly deep at wide receiver, prompting speculation that the team could trade away a wide receiver<\/a> for extra draft capital or a player that could fill a position of need.<\/p>\n

Last week, John Kosko of Pro Football Focus published a list<\/a> of every NFL team’s most valuable trade asset, and he listed receiver\/returner Marvin Mims for the Broncos.<\/p>\n

“With that surplus, it makes sense that one of the younger options could become expendable \u2014 most notably Marvin Mims Jr. or Troy Franklin,” Kosko wrote for PFF<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Denver might not trade either player, but our view is that Franklin would be the smarter choice<\/a> if it happens. Kosko went with Mims, merely because he believes Mims could fetch more in a trade.<\/p>\n

“While neither would command significant draft capital, Mims likely carries more value due to his added impact as a returner,” Kosko wrote.<\/p>\n

If the Broncos wouldn’t receive much in a trade for Mims anyway, it would make more sense to keep him. There’s no reason to trade him just for the sake of making a trade, especially when Mims can make an impact in multiple phases of the game. While it does seem far to say Mims would draw more than Franklin in a hypothetical trade, Denver shouldn’t part with the two-time All-Pro this offseason.<\/p>\n
