Now, two of them are opening up on their respective reasons for choosing Michigan as their future college football home. We\u2019ll talk about those guys in today\u2019s Recruiting Roundup, but first, we\u2019ve got some big news to go over.<\/p>\n<p>Two local five-star prospects take surprise visit to Michigan<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">Having Ron Bellamy back with the program is already paying dividends for in-state recruiting, as a pair of local five-star wide receivers took a visit to Ann Arbor late last week \u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/247sports.com\/player\/dakota-guerrant-46142083\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Dakota Guerrant<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/247sports.com\/player\/deandre-bidden-46149889\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Deandre Bidden<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">Guerrant is ranked as the No. 34 overall player in the 2027 class on 247Sports\u2019 composite, while Bidden is ranked No. 16 overall in the 2028 class. The two Harper Woods natives have visited Michigan more than any other school, with Bidden visiting <a href=\"https:\/\/www.on3.com\/rivals\/deandre-bidden-243496\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">seven times<\/a> and Guerrant visiting <a href=\"https:\/\/www.on3.com\/rivals\/dakota-guerrant-236057\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">nearly 20 times<\/a> during his recruitment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">Getting both back on campus is huge, but especially so for Guerrant. He has been trending towards Oregon in recent weeks \u2014 he took a visit there back in January and has an official visit set for the weekend of June 5. The Ducks even received a prediction to land his commitment from Rivals\u2019 Steve Wiltfong. The Wolverines will get his final official visit of the summer on the weekend of June 19.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">\u201cI talk to them a lot and they\u2019re trying everything,\u201d Guerrant recently told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.on3.com\/teams\/michigan-wolverines\/news\/michigan-recruiting-intel-dakota-guerrant\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Rivals<\/a>. \u201cStaying home, that\u2019s always what a kid wants. We\u2019ll see what happens; they\u2019re definitely recruiting me hard.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">Meanwhile, Bidden visited three times this past fall and got back on campus last week for the first time since then to meet with the new coaching staff.<\/p>\n<p>New commit details picking the Wolverines<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">It didn\u2019t take much for 2027 three-star safety <a href=\"https:\/\/www.maizenbrew.com\/michigan-football-recruiting\/109604\/michigan-football-recruiting-maxwell-miles-commitment-kyle-whittingham\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Maxwell Miles to pull the trigger<\/a> on committing to Michigan. He took an unofficial visit a couple weekends ago, earned his offer during that visit, and announced his pledge just a few days later.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">Speaking with <a href=\"https:\/\/247sports.com\/college\/michigan\/board\/102410\/contents\/versatile-2027-db-maxwell-miles-commits-to-michigan-278878439\/?page=1\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">The Michigan Insider\u2019s Brice Marich<\/a> ($), Miles explained why he chose Michigan.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">\u201cI thought it was the perfect time after the Wolverines wanted me in for a visit,\u201d Miles said. \u201cI think after seeing practice and talking to the coaches, I just saw myself perfectly fitting in (defensive coordinator) coach (Jay) Hill\u2019s defense. I was like, \u2018you know what, the time is now.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">\u201cThey were fired up for sure. I told coach (Tyler) Stockton that I wanted to be a part of his first recruiting class at Michigan.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">Miles (6-foot-2, 195 pounds) is set to be used in the secondary in a variety of ways, as the Wolverines told him he could be either a safety or a nickel cornerback. The Arizona native transferred to Centennial High School in Las Vegas last year and had a stellar junior season \u2014 77 total tackles, six tackles for loss, 10 pass breakups, eight interceptions, one fumble return and a blocked kick.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">\u201cThey\u2019re getting a smart, physical defensive back who loves to compete,\u201d Miles said. \u201cI take coaching seriously. I\u2019m a great teammate and I bring that dawg mentality every time I step on the field. I can play anywhere in the secondary and impact the game.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Four-star S details commitment to Michigan<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">One day before Miles committed to the Wolverines, 2027 four-star safety <a href=\"https:\/\/www.maizenbrew.com\/michigan-football-recruiting\/109530\/michigan-football-recruiting-commitment-darrell-mattison-kyle-whittingham-tyler-stockton\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Darrell Mattison did the exact same thing<\/a>. The 6-foot-2, 160-pounder from Chicago chose Michigan over other offers from Ole Miss, Indiana, Iowa, Penn State, Wisconsin, Iowa State Illinois and many others.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">Talking with <a href=\"https:\/\/247sports.com\/article\/top247-wolverines-safety-commit-darrell-mattison-michigan-just-felt-right-279010762\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">247Sports\u2019 Tom Loy<\/a> ($) after his commitment, Mattison explained why he picked Michigan.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">\u201dMichigan just felt right,\u201d Mattison said. \u201cWinning culture, real brotherhood, and they develop defensive backs the right way. I wanted to be somewhere that pushes me to be great on and off the field, and that\u2019s Michigan.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">\u201cThe coaches kept it real with me from day one. They built a strong bond, not just football, but life. They showed me how I fit and how they\u2019d develop me. That meant everything.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">He also described the type of player that Michigan will be getting out of him.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">\u201cOn the field, a physical, smart, versatile defensive back who is always around the ball. Off the field, someone who is locked in and about my business. I\u2019m coming to work.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>2027 in-stare four-star wide receiver Dakota Guerrant has set an official visit to Michigan for the weekend of June 19, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.on3.com\/rivals\/news\/four-star-wr-dakota-guerrant-sets-michigan-oregon-officials\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Rivals\u2019 Allen Trieu<\/a>. He will also take a spring visit to Ann Arbor at some point, but that hasn\u2019t been scheduled just yet.2027 three-star linebacker Broncs Baker is set to announce his commitment on April 10.
