The defense has Amani Hooker on an extended contract, and opposite him in base defense will be sophomore Kevin Winston Jr. The Titans also signed veteran safety Tony Adams, who previously played for new head coach Robert Saleh with the New York Jets.

Bringing in Adams represents the biggest change the Titans made at safety this offseason. General manager Mike Borgonzi also released Xavier Woods from his contract. Core special teamer Mike Brown reunited with Mike Vrabel by signing with the New England Patriots, and late-season addition Jerrick Reed II is back in Tennessee.

With room for another depth addition, the Titans are reportedly eyeing a late-round safety in the NFL Draft. Veteran analyst Tony Pauline reports the Titans have shown significant interest in Nebraska safety DeShon Singleton. Pauline outlines precisely why this move would be so interesting for Saleh.

Titans showing draft interest in safety who would appease Robert Saleh

“The Tennessee Titans have shown a lot of interest in Singleton, who also participated in the Senior Bowl,” Pauline wrote. “The Titans are interesting, as new head coach Robert Saleh was with the New York Jets when they drafted Jamien Sherwood in 2021, a then-oversized safety from Auburn who has become an outstanding linebacker for the team.”

Singleton is an oversized safety at 6-foot-3 and 205 pounds. Pauline notes there were initial discussions that Singleton may move to linebacker, something Saleh could have interest in after succesfully overseeing a similar transition for Sherwood in East Rutherford. Talks over a position change have allegedly cooled after he ran in the 4.5s and leaped a 39.5-inch vertical and 10-foot-10 broad jump at pro day.

Singelton was very productive for the Cornhuskers as a two-year starter in 2024-25. The Greensburg, Lousiana native recorded 141 tackles, seven pass breakups, and three interceptions across those two campaigns.

Saleh is comfortable helping develop bigger safety-linebacker hybrids. The Titans could use better depth at both positions. That could make Singleton a potential Titans target on Day Three of the 2026 NFL Draft.

The Tennessee Titans know who their starters are going to be at safety in 2026.
