(Photo by John Fisher\/Getty Images)<\/p>\n<p>Superstar pass-rusher <a href=\"https:\/\/heavy.com\/nfl\/player\/micah-parsons\/\" target=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Micah Parsons<\/a> tore his ACL near the end of last season, and the <a href=\"https:\/\/heavy.com\/sports\/nfl\/green-bay-packers\/\" target=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Green Bay Packers<\/a> brass is doing what it can to keep fan expectations in check with regards to how quickly Parsons will get back onto the field.<\/p>\n<p>General manager Brian Gutekunst spoke with media at the <a href=\"https:\/\/heavy.com\/sports\/nfl\/\" target=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">NFL\u2019s<\/a> annual meetings on Monday, March 30, and while he offered positivity with regards to Parsons\u2019 progress, he also made it clear that the Packers are moving forward with caution at the forefront.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c[We have] invested quite a bit, and we will be very careful with that investment,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/RobDemovsky\/status\/2038704841103671615\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external nofollow\">Gutekunst said<\/a>, per Rob Demovsky of ESPN.<\/p>\n<p>Micah Parsons Likely to Miss Opening Month of Regular Season<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5813778\" class=\"size-inline wp-image-5813778\" data-lazy-load=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/GettyImages-2236588230.jpg\" alt=\"Micah Parsons Zaire Franklin\" width=\"782\" height=\"440\"  \/><\/p>\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-5813778\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">GettyGreen Bay Packers edge-rusher Micah Parsons.<\/p>\n<p>Parsons had a clean tear of his ACL that was not complicated by further issues in the knee, which created the best possible scenario for an expedient return relative to how long it takes the average athlete to recover from such a traumatic injury.<\/p>\n<p>That said, Matt Schneidman of The Athletic reported earlier this month that Parsons will likely miss three or four games to begin the regular season, meaning he may not make his debut until early October.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cParsons is expected to miss the first three or four games of the season while finishing ACL rehab, but you can bet your bottom dollar that he\u2019ll be scratching and clawing to play before then,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/7146782\/2026\/03\/26\/packers-depth-chart-draft-free-agency\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external nofollow\">Schneidman wrote<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Green Bay\u2019s pass rush is diminished following the team\u2019s decision to deal <a href=\"https:\/\/heavy.com\/nfl\/player\/rashan-gary\/\" target=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Rashan Gary<\/a> to the <a href=\"https:\/\/heavy.com\/sports\/nfl\/dallas-cowboys\/\" target=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Dallas Cowboys<\/a>, which means the Packers are in the market for at least one veteran edge-rusher to bolster both the talent at the top end of the position group and its depth once Parsons returns.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter trading Rashan Gary and letting <a href=\"https:\/\/heavy.com\/nfl\/player\/kingsley-enagbare\/\" target=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Kingsley Enagbare<\/a> sign with the <a href=\"https:\/\/heavy.com\/sports\/nfl\/new-york-jets\/\" target=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">New York Jets<\/a>, Gutekunst might want another veteran in a young room, especially while Parsons remains sidelined,\u201d Schneidman continued. \u201cNames like <a href=\"https:\/\/heavy.com\/nfl\/player\/jadeveon-clowney\/\" target=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Jadeveon Clowney<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/heavy.com\/nfl\/player\/leonard-floyd\/\" target=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Leonard Floyd<\/a> are still available, and both were productive given their age last season.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Leonard Floyd Floated as Option for Packers to Round Out Pass Rush<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5846486\" class=\"size-inline wp-image-5846486\" data-lazy-load=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/1774908199_193_Leonard-Floyd-e1774111894136.jpg\" alt=\"Leonard Floyd\" width=\"782\" height=\"437\"\/><\/p>\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-5846486\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">GettyPass-rusher Leonard Floyd, formerly of the Atlanta Falcons.<\/p>\n<p>Gary Davenport of Bleacher Report on Monday named Floyd the remaining free agent who can most help Green Bay round out its pass rush in Parsons\u2019 stead.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MuiTypography-root MuiTypography-bp_small__body__article__medium css-1vqr2el\">\u201cThe Pack needs bodies \u2014 and while the team has $22 million and change in cap space, they also have needs at other positions. Green Bay needs to be frugal here,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/bleacherreport.com\/articles\/25411914-1-free-agent-still-market-who-can-help-each-nfl-team-2026\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external nofollow\">Davenport wrote<\/a>. \u201cAt 33 years of age, Leonard Floyd isn\u2019t going to be especially expensive \u2014 especially after managing just 3.5 sacks in 15 games with the <a href=\"https:\/\/heavy.com\/sports\/nfl\/atlanta-falcons\/\" target=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Atlanta Falcons<\/a> in 2025. But in five straight seasons from 2020-2024, Floyd logged at least 8.5 sacks \u2014 including a pair of seasons with double-digits in that category.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Packers\u2019 other roster needs include starting-level cornerback talent, depth on the interior of the defensive line and depth along the offensive line, which is nowhere near the dominant unit it was two and three years back when QB <a href=\"https:\/\/heavy.com\/nfl\/player\/jordan-love\/\" target=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Jordan Love<\/a> took over for <a href=\"https:\/\/heavy.com\/nfl\/player\/aaron-rodgers\/\" target=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Aaron Rodgers<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/heavy.com\/author\/maxdible1\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Max Dible<\/a> covers the NFL, NBA and MLB for Heavy.com, with a focus on the Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings, Chicago Bears and Cleveland Browns.
