The New York Jets<\/a> are still in the market for a starting-caliber wide receiver opposite Garrett Wilson<\/a>. It’s a fairly sizable need for new quarterback Geno Smith, who is a trigger-happy passer. With four picks in the opening 50, the 2026 NFL draft may represent the Jets’ best opportunity to address the need once and for all.<\/p>\n

Alternatively, general manager Darren Mougey could consider acquiring a veteran wide receiver via trade. ESPN recently accounted for the possibility by raising a good point before listing some potential targets.<\/p>\n

Jacksonville Jaguars<\/a> wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. is the most intriguing name listed.<\/p>\n

“Don’t sleep on the possibility of Mougey trading for a veteran [wide receiver],” ESPN wrote<\/a>. “It’s already been an active offseason for wide receiver trades, and you’re talking about a GM who has made 12 player trades in a little over a year.”<\/p>\n

Thomas was linked to being traded last offseason after getting off to a slow start under the new coaching staff. It’s worth noting the Jags drafted cornerback\/wide receiver Travis Hunter at No. 2 overall after aggressively trading up for him. At midseason, they brought in another wide receiver by trading for Jakobi Meyers, who they’ve since signed to an extension.<\/p>\n

Thomas would be an excellent get for the Jets.<\/p>\n

An ascending 1,000-yard receiver, he’d address the need for a legitimate pass-catching playmaker opposite Wilson.
