The electrical substation injury theory<\/a> surrounding the 49ers no longer has a pulse.<\/p>\n

San Francisco general manager John Lynch told reporters at the annual NFL league meeting in Phoenix on Sunday that the team brought in an expert this offseason and he found the Niners are not seeing an uptick in injuries due to a structure near their Santa Clara, Calif. practice facility<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe did hire an independent scientist,\u201d Lynch said<\/a>. \u201cIt basically was a big nothing burger. We\u2019re safe. We\u2019re in a safe place of work. The levels are 400 times less than unsafe zones.\u201d<\/p>\n

Peter Cowan \u2014 a self-proclaimed board-certified clinician \u2014\u00a0penned a report in January that speculated Niners players were sustaining significant ailments due to magnetic waves that were being released by a power plant near Levi\u2019s Stadium.<\/p>\n

John Lynch said on Sunday a scientist debunked the theory that an electrical substation was causing Niners players\u2019 injuries. Kirby Lee-Imagn Images<\/p>\n

However, Lynch said the scientist\u2019s findings revealed that was simply not the case.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a normal place of work,\u201d Lynch said. \u201cIt\u2019s a normal gym. We are safe. We are healthy. And we feel really good about that.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to ESPN<\/a>, the expert found hair dryers, microwaves and vacuum cleaners would elicit greater levels of electromagnetic output than what Niners players have been enduring.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat was important to us. Not just turn a blind eye but to look into it,\u201d Lynch said. \u201cBecause it\u2019s our players\u2019 wellness. It\u2019s not only our players\u2019 wellness. It\u2019s coaches. It\u2019s staff. It\u2019s all that. It\u2019s encouraging. I felt like it would be that way, but it\u2019s encouraging that it came out in a good place.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lynch said the team is also making some signifcant upgrades after the organization\u2019s training staff and training room were given a C-minus grade on the NFLPA\u2019s annual report card.<\/p>\n

Lynch told media members the Niners are spending $9 million on cold plunges, underwater treadmills and other things to improve players\u2019 health and recovery. He added the team is bringing on three more physical therapists as well.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe were well staffed,\u201d Lynch said, \u201cbut we weren\u2019t at the top of the league. Now we\u2019ll be up there. That\u2019s of the utmost importance, the health and safety of our players, the performance of our players.
