When meeting with the local media at the NFL league meetings, Jacksonville Jaguars’<\/a> head coach Liam Coen discussed the preliminary plan for Travis Hunter once he’s able to practice.<\/p>\n Hunter suffered a season-ending knee injury in practice prior to the\u00a0Jaguars<\/a>‘ Week 9 matchup with the\u00a0Las Vegas Raiders<\/a>.<\/p>\n As of now, Coen was not ready to say whether or not Hunter would be ready to go for OTAs.<\/p>\n \u201cI don\u2019t know,” Coen said about Hunter’s status for OTAs, according to Ryan O’Halloran<\/a>. “I cannot say for certain. He\u2019s very well ahead of where he\u2019s supposed to be. I know the docs and athletic trainers feel really good about him.\u201d<\/p>\n Hunter will continue to play both ways — both Coen and James Gladstone have made that clear — but given the construction of the roster, there could be more opportunities at cornerback for him.<\/p>\n Expert NFL picks: Exclusive betting insights only at USA TODAY.<\/a><\/p>\n Hunter is currently slated to start on the outside opposite of Montaric Brown. While at wideout, Jakobi Meyers, Brian Thomas Jr., and Parker Washington headline that unit.<\/p>\n However, specifics still need to be ironed out.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s an unspoken understanding that there are some depth things (at cornerback) that he can come in and help us out. The focus more so has been, \u2018How you feeling today?\u2019 We have not dove into specifics on scheduling and role.\u201d<\/p>\n From the sounds of it, Hunter’s practice plan this offseason and into training camp will differ from last year. As a rookie, there was very little flipping back-and-forth between the two positions during the early portion of the NFL schedule.<\/p>\n But once the Jaguars got into the season, he did that much more regularly during practices. That seems to be what the Jaguars are aiming for once Hunter is able to return.<\/p>\n “I think we’re going to blend the offseason schedule with him a little bit better than we did last year, which was more of like focusing per day on one side of the ball,” Coen said, via ESPN<\/a>. “As we did it in-season, where he was more back and forth [on both sides of the ball] throughout the day, that may be a little bit more where we’re trending.”<\/p>\n
